Design & Construction
Designed around a planing composite hull and superstructure she features a 24' beam and a 8' draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 140 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the first yacht built on the 101 Sport Yacht design. Launched in April 2014 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in April 2014.
Exterior Design
The hydraulic swim platform at the stern serves as both a launchpad for water activities and an expansive area for relaxation and social gatherings. Above it, the tender garage is neatly tucked away, indicative of the yacht's smart use of space.
On the aft deck, visitors are greeted by vibrant red upholstery which contrasts sharply against the marine environment, creating a striking visual impact. A large sun pad area and a wraparound seating arrangement with a table present themselves as focal points for outdoor entertainment, complemented by catering areas equipped with refrigerators, ice makers, and sinks on each side.
Moving to the upper deck, the flybridge extends the vessel's entertaining capabilities with additional red leather seating around a teak table, a second helm station with full controls, and sun pads for lounging. The presence of refrigeration and ice-making facilities underscores the yacht's readiness for hosting guests. Details such as carbon fiber accents can be spotted throughout this area, adding to the yacht's sporty aesthetic.
The bow area is safely accessible via deep side decks which lead to a versatile space featuring additional plush red seating, adjustable sun pads, a jacuzzi, and deck lockers, all of which contribute to the yacht's functional luxury. Tables and optional umbrellas offer further convenience and comfort for guests.
Interior Design
The interior of Matzu displays a contemporary theme accentuated by bold color contrasts and quality materials. The main salon is a focal point for social gatherings, featuring a sleek bar area for entertaining. The color scheme throughout is notably defined by striking red upholstery which captures attention against the more subdued tones of the surrounding finishes. This vibrant choice extends to the seating arrangements that encircle a sizable wood-crafted table, suitable for guest interaction and dining.
The salon's aesthetic is further enhanced by the inclusion of wood paneling on the ceilings, adding a touch of warmth and texture. Integrated into these panels is subtle accent lighting, which, along with the starlight effect, creates an inviting ambiance during evening hours. A prominent television serves as an entertainment hub within the main salon, flanked by built-in wine refrigerators, reinforcing the yacht's capacity for hosting and leisure.
Navigational functionality meets modern design at the open helm station, where multiple monitors and comprehensive controls are arrayed for piloting the yacht with precision. The helm's accessibility and layout ensure that operation is both practical and integrated into the yacht's communal spaces, allowing for an open dialogue between captain, crew, and guests.
The galley is strategically positioned near the crew quarters, ensuring efficient service and meal preparation. It is equipped with essential appliances including freezers, refrigerators, an espresso machine, and a microwave, complemented by a cooktop, oven, and dishwasher for complete culinary capabilities. A double sink and commercial-grade Miele washer and dryers serve the practical needs of the crew and the maintenance of the yacht's high standards of hospitality.
Accommodation
Matzu houses four well-appointed cabins that can host up to eight guests in refined comfort.
The full-beam owner's suite is a large and luxurious space. The suite includes a king-sized bed, ample storage, and an en-suite bathroom complete with a sizable rainfall showerhead. The suite's design incorporates a dark and rich color palette, promoting a restful atmosphere. A large TV and speaker towers are also present, enhancing the in-cabin entertainment experience.
Adjacent to the owner's suite is a VIP cabin, offering guests a spacious and inviting area to relax. This cabin includes a large closet that lights up upon opening, adding a touch of sophistication and convenience. The en-suite bathroom presents a more traditional vanity set against the yacht's thematic color scheme and includes thoughtful touches such as leather-lined doors.
Two additional twin cabins are available, each offering comfortable sleeping arrangements and the versatility of a Pullman berth, allowing for an additional guest. The cabins are well-equipped with entertainment systems and storage solutions, ensuring guests feel at home. One of the twin cabins also includes an en-suite bathroom that doubles as a day head, providing practicality without compromising on space or amenities.
For the crew, up to five crew members can be accommodated in the crew quarters, which are designed to ensure that their living conditions are maintained to a high standard, reflecting the overall luxury experience offered on board Matzu.
Performance & Capabilities
Matzu houses twin diesel MTU engines, each producing a formidable 2,640 horsepower. These 16V 2000 M94 engines are engineered for efficiency and power, enabling Matzu to achieve a top speed of 31 knots. Those aboard can enjoy swift travels while maintaining comfort at a cruising speed of 24 knots.
Matzu boasts an impressive fuel capacity with 13,000 liters contained within her tanks. This substantial volume supports a considerable range, allowing the yacht to cover a maximum distance of approximately 2,000 nautical miles under optimal conditions. Such range is ideal for extended voyages and exploring distant shores without frequent refueling stops.
To ensure that comfort is not compromised, especially in turbulent conditions, Matzu is equipped with advanced stabilizers. These systems are instrumental in reducing roll motion and maintaining stability, whether the yacht is underway or at anchor, providing guests with a more enjoyable experience. Furthermore, Matzu features a planning hull design, which contributes to her swift and efficient navigation through the water.
Amenities
In addition, a swim platform is on hand for guests looking to cool off in the sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Matzu also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off and an inviting spread of sunpads.
