Design & Construction

Designed around a full displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 9.4m beam and a 2.65m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 456 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in early 2005 with the keel laid under the project name 'Mariah IV'. This was the ninth yacht built on the Vision 145' design. She was completed at Benetti's Viareggio yard in Italy where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners in February 2008.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of the Palama is characterized by its raked bow, which enhances both its aesthetic appeal and performance. The deck is crafted from teak, providing durability and a classic look. The hull and superstructure are painted in white, creating a cohesive and clean appearance. Accentuating the design is a blue boot top, adding a subtle contrast. Below the waterline, the yacht is finished in black, maintaining a sleek and straightforward look.

The superstructure is a two-deck design that stands out with semi-circular frontal windows. These windows are designed in a way that is reminiscent of the winter gardens on historic Italian transatlantic liners. The sundeck, which sits atop the superstructure, blends into the overall profile of the yacht, contributing to a sense of lightness.

The sundeck features various zones including a bar, dining area, lounge, and a Jacuzzi decorated with vitreous paste mosaics.

Interior Design

Materials used throughout the yacht include anegre (Tanganyika walnut) and eucalyptus woods. These materials are chosen for their durability and aesthetic appeal, with different types of finishes providing varied nuances. Additionally, select areas feature 3-dimensional effect panels crafted by skilled Costa Rican artisans, adding a unique touch to the interior.

The full-beam panoramic saloon on the upper deck provides expansive views and a relaxed atmosphere for socializing or unwinding. Adjacent to the saloon is a circular dining room with a 200-degree view aft, creating a pleasant dining environment.

Accommodation

Palama is designed to host a total of ten guests. The sleeping arrangements are distributed across five cabins located on the lower deck. These include two double-bed cabins and two twin-bed cabins, each equipped with private bathrooms.

The master cabin is a focal point of luxury and convenience. It features two dressing rooms and two study areas, providing ample space for relaxation and work. Each area is complemented by its own private bathroom, ensuring maximum privacy and comfort for the owner.

For the crew, the yacht includes five cabins, all separated from guest areas to maintain privacy. The crew quarters are comprehensive, featuring their own galley and mess area, allowing for efficient and unobtrusive service. The captain's cabin is situated on the upper deck, adjacent to the bridge, facilitating ease of command and operational efficiency.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3580B) 8-cylinder 1,298hp engines running at 1835rpm, motor yacht Palama is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 14 knots. With her 67,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 4,606 nautical miles.
