Otam Yachts has revealed the latest addition to its Otam Aluminium Custom Range, which is set to add size and style to its now customary dose of speed.
At 35m (115ft) the new Custom Range 115 will match GIPSY, delivered in 2016 and winner of both a World Superyacht Award and a ShowBoats Design Award, as its largest yacht yet. It is also set to uphold the Italian yard's perchance for speed, reaching up to 44 knots which Otam claims will make it one of the fastest alloy yachts on the water.
However whilst both the new Custom Range 115 and GIPSY have the same LOA, Otam is keen to stress that is where the similarities end with the new model sporting a strong aeronautical and automotive influence in the exterior lines by BG Design Firm.
“The key words that directed the design were ‘sportiness’, ‘purity’, ‘simplicity’ and ‘modernity’,” says the design studio. “To achieve the right family feeling, we introduced the aggressive bow and moved the deckhouse as far back as possible to shift the visual weight of the volumes towards the stern, a fundamental feature of all sports boats. All the lines converge forward in a linear and almost horizontal way to give the shape tension, poise and dynamism.”
Being part of the Custom Range, clients can tailor the 35m (115ft) yacht to their own needs with various layout options for the aft cockpit, flybridge and foredeck. The flybridge, an unusual option on a sports cruiser, offers extra lounging and dining space.
The standard layout features an airy, open-plan salon and dining area behind the wheelhouse on the main deck, with extensive glazing offering panoramic sea views. Accommodation is offered for eight guests, comprising a full-beam master stateroom and a large VIP stateroom amidships and two en-suite cabins on the lower deck. A transom garage can house a 4.2m (13.7ft) tender and Jet Ski.

Propulsion wise there is a choice between a three engine configuration with MTU 2600-hp engines and a KaMeWa waterjet central booster for a top speed of 44 knots and a cruising speed of 32 knots or twin MTU engines for a top speed of 35 knots and a cruising speed of 28 knots. The yacht also features a high performance, deep-V hull developed by Umberto Tagliavini Marine.
OTAM Sales Director Matteo Belardinelli explains more about the range: “The philosophy behind the OTAM Aluminium Custom Range is that it is fully bespoke and aimed at clients who don’t just want a boat – they want to build their ideal project,” he says. “Over 30 metres we build in aluminium rather than advanced composites because it provides much more flexibility to personalise the yacht in every way, from the exterior aesthetics and interior layout to the propulsion specifications.”
Based at Liguria in Italy, Otam produces fast performance yachts with its flagship Custom Range offering a bespoke choice of yachts from 13.7m (45ft) to 40m (130ft). Last year it delivered its fastest ever yacht, the Otam 65 HT, which has a top speed of 60 knots and a cruising speed of 50 knots.
