On Deck

The GT50 Sportyfly has a classic sports cruiser design with a garage for a dinghy. He found the cockpit area to be of a decent size.

There is a low profile ladder leading to the flybridge, maintaining the sports cruiser aesthetic. The driving position, seating area, and sun bed cushions on the flybridge are well placed. Particularly liked was the dinette area which was found to be a great space for relaxing or dining.

Interior

Moving inside, he admired the saloon on the port side with a neatly tucked away galley area which included a sink and a fridge. This design is greatly appreciated, as it is can cater for both the cockpit and the saloon.

Descending to the lower deck, Nick was surprised to find another galley area, equipped with a particularly large fridge, loads of storage, and an oven. There is also a hidden dishwasher, which was found to be an impressive addition. Despite this second galley, he found the accommodation to be quite cleverly designed and not compromised.

The yacht features a VIP guest cabin at the forward with scissor berths, a day heads with two access points, and a third cabin with side-by-side beds, which is surprisingly spacious for a 50-foot sports cruiser.

The master cabin was designed with a dropped ceiling height over the bed to maintain the low profile of the boat, but with standing headroom around the bed. This was considered to be a clever design that allowed for a low profile boat without compromising on the comfort and functionality of the cabin. The open plan ensuite in the master cabin is an unusual yet interesting design feature. It included a shower area with a frosted glass door and a separate toilet compartment with a proper door for privacy.

In Summary

Overall, Nick found the Beneteau Gran Turismo 50 Sportfly to be a rather unusual yet well-designed yacht, worthy of a tour. He was impressed by its blend of sports cruiser and flybridge designs and its clever use of space to provide comfortable accommodation and functional galley areas.
