Nick appreciates the smart placement of the yacht's galley unit or wet bar at the back of the boat. This means that when cooking, all smells and smoke go off the back of the boat, an aspect he finds particularly appealing.

The helm position impresses with its upgraded twin Garmin screens and joystick controls allowing for full close quarter control. It also has a bolster for the seat providing a decent view out, even when the nose is up due to planing. The forward-facing seating at the helm is appreciated, as it allows four people to sit across, a feature he believes is often lacking in other boats.

The compact central area and large cabins are a clever design decision, as he believes the cabins and heads are the areas used the most when on the lower deck. The galley is basic but functional with everything needed, and highlighted are the generous-sized cabins and separate shower stall, which he believes will be appreciated by users.

There is the option of an extended platform which can lower the boat a little more, providing easy access to the water via a boarding ladder.

Also admired is the sociability of the cockpit area, noting the seating on every side. A highlighted feature is the tilt-forward seat that can be transformed into a longer sunbed, allowing for flexibility depending on the boat's occupants' needs.

The yacht's deck includes a sunken sunbathing area, a feature Nick finds reassuring for those who like to nap on the bow. The yacht's anchor handling kit and anchor winch are easily accessible, and there's the possibility to increase the sunbathing area.

As for the engines, the yacht is powered by a pair of Volvo Penta D4-300s, which suit the boat well. These engines can give about 30 knots flat out, and the cruising speed is in the mid-20s. The range is about 200 nautical miles, and the fuel tanks are easily accessible.

There are neat little details throughout and Nick seems impressed with the thoughtful design and functionality of the Beneteau Gran Turismo 36. One of the first things noted was the yacht's impressive width, which he believes allows for a great amount of space.
