Delivered in 1986, Amara is a 58.82m classic yacht for sale built by Dutch shipyard Feadship. Her naval architecture and exterior design comes from the drawing boards of De Voogt, while Terence Disdale is responsible for her interior design.

Design & Construction

Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.51m beam and a 3.3m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 702 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.

Construction started in early 1985. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

In classic Feadship style, Amara looks incredible for her age. The unmistakable exterior styling by de Voogt is unmistakable in her sleek lines and white superstructure over a striking midnight blue hull. Amara was designed and built before the popularity of the beach club concept, and offers a short bathing platform to provide easy access to the water. The transom sides, cut at precise angles, flare upwards to create smart shaping leading up to the main deck.

Wide spacious and semicovered walkways provide an elegant passageway towards the bow where deck storage for two personal watercraft are securely stowed out of sight of the flow of the exterior lines, ensuring a clean and uncluttered exterior.

A helipad is situated on the upper deck aft, below which an elegant extensive dining area enjoys shade and spills out to encompass comfortable lounging areas choosing sun or shade as desired. The superstructure of the yacht is prominent here however, rather than seen as an inconvenience as so often in more modern build briefs,  it defines the essence of a classic cruising yacht where form and functionality meet luxury and a genuine sense of being 'at sea' rather than a penthouse apartment with sea views. Laid on extensive teak decks and supported by white pillars the area exudes a grand and very 'Feadship' ambiance.

The helipad, a later addition, creates a captivating backdrop when viewed from the bar on the upper deck, looking aft. Skillfully integrated, the design team strategically placed a jacuzzi forward of the sloping mast on the upper deck. This thoughtful placement allows for a serene and private retreat, offering elevated and open views without intruding on the main socializing areas of the yacht.

Interior Design

Terence Disdale, a frequent collaborator with Feadship, curated the interiors of Amara with a focus on tranquility. The palette consists of calm, muted colors dominated by cream, allowing for the introduction of color highlights through soft furnishings. This deliberate choice offers the flexibility to easily shift the mood against a plain background.

The grand salon embodies a light and airy ambiance, benefiting from well-placed windows that allow natural light to flow in. Soft light wood adorns the walls, complemented by intricate wall lighting, adding movement and texture to the contemporary setting. A designated space for a baby grand piano sets the stage for delightful entertainment and social gatherings, accompanied by well-placed tables for drinks and snacks before or after dining. The contrast between cream carpets and light wood flooring enhances the overall aesthetic.

The interior dining area boasts a solid wooden table, comfortably seating eight guests. Cream-textured walls adorned with nautical-themed artwork add a splash of color against the muted background, accentuated by a chandelier overhead. As you move through additional salon areas, deeper blues come into play, subtly complemented by light gold accents through cushions and understated, comfortable furnishings.

The cabins embrace a classic cruise liner style, featuring large porthole-style windows that maintain the overarching cream and neutral tones. Wood paneling introduces visual interest, while textured walls invite curiosity. Guest cabins strategically incorporate glass and wood grid windows, allowing an infusion of light while preserving privacy. Throughout, highlights of blue add a touch of sophistication to the timeless and elegant design.

Accommodation

Amara offers accommodation for up to 10 guests, ensuring a comfortable and intimate experience. The bright master suite is located on the main deck, spanning the yacht's full beam. This suite includes walk-in wardrobes and an adjoining lounge, providing ample space and privacy for the owner.

The remaining guest accommodation is situated on the lower deck and consists of two double cabins and two convertible twin cabins, offering flexible sleeping arrangements to suit different needs.

She is also capable of carrying up to 15 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Deutz (SBV 6M628) 1,455hp engines, motor yacht Amara is capable of reaching a top speed of 16 knots, and comfortably cruises at 13 knots. With her 100,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 7,250 nautical miles at 13 knots.
