Design & Construction
Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 34'7" beam and a 10'6" draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 1,100 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.
Construction started in early 1997. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.
Exterior Design
The Athina III features a raked bow, contributing to its smooth slicing through water and enhancing its overall performance. The yacht's deck is crafted from high-quality teak, providing durability and a classic nautical appearance. The hull is painted in a clean white, matching the superstructure, which maintains a consistent and understated color scheme. Below the waterline, the hull is coated in black, ensuring a sleek and efficient profile
Her size is not immediately apparent from a distance, but upon closer inspection, the scale becomes evident, particularly when noting the eight-seater helicopter on the top deck. The spacious decks and open areas contribute to an overall sense of ample space.
Athina III's exterior also includes high-capacity tanks for extended range and sizable storage spaces. The design allows for wide decks and generous crew quarters, enhancing functionality and comfort. The yacht's steel hull and aluminum superstructure are built for durability and efficiency, supporting long voyages.
The main outdoor eating area, located one deck down from the lido deck, features a large oval teak table in partial shade, complemented by a well-equipped pantry and a food lift from the main galley. The helicopter uses the aft part of the lido deck, which also features a spa pool with a built-in waterfall surrounded by sunpads.
The main tenders are stored in niches amidships on either side of the boat deck and are launched by a horizontal crane, while additional water toys and a RIB are housed on the top deck, accessible via a pair of conventional cranes. This design ensures practicality and ease of use for water activities.
Interior Design
The interior design of Athina III is characterized by its spacious and functional layout, emphasizing comfort and advanced technology. The interior spaces are designed with anigré woodwork and beige velvet settees, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere. The saloon, a central gathering area, features a Yamaha Disklavier piano as its most noticeable element, blending seamlessly with the understated furnishings.
The main deck includes a cinema situated between the saloon and dining area. This cinema is equipped with wide-screen projection and a seven-channel surround sound system, offering high-quality audio-visual entertainment. The comfortable settees in the cinema, with the rear one rising hydraulically, enhance the viewing experience.
A notable feature of Athina III is its boat deck lounge, also known as the 'blazer bar'. This area appears conventional but is equipped with a synthetic drum kit and a concealed 48-track digital recording console, along with all necessary ancillary equipment. The marble bar in this lounge can be retracted to transform the space into a professional recording studio, allowing musicians to record and produce CDs on board.
Throughout the yacht, the entertainment system is highly advanced. Each cabin and saloon is fitted with touch screens that enable guests to control various aspects of their environment, such as temperature, lighting, and entertainment options. The system includes hundreds of music CDs, movies, and television programs, all accessible via a local area network supported by fiber-optic cabling.
Accommodation
Athina III can host up to 13 guests. The centerpiece of the accommodation is the owner's suite, located forward on the main deck. This full-width suite offers a generous amount of space. Adjacent to the owner's suite is the VIP suite, designed with a gracious library style, featuring pear wood pillars and joinery, providing a sophisticated atmosphere.
On the lower deck, there are four large guest cabins, each designed for comfort and convenience. One of these cabins is specifically set up for young children, complete with an additional nanny cabin to ensure the family's needs are met seamlessly. For guests who may have difficulty with stairs, a small passenger lift services the lower deck and the two decks above, ensuring easy access throughout the yacht.
She is also capable of carrying up to 18 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
