The 105m (344.6ft) motor yacht, now named H3, was delivered to its original owners in 2000 by the Dutch shipyard Oceanco. Her naval architecture and exterior design originated from the drawing boards of The A Group, with Mark Berryman Design being responsible for her interior design.
The yacht H3 was initially named AL MIRQAB during its original build for the prime minister of Qatar and later rebranded as INDIAN EMPRESS in 2006 under the ownership of Vijay Mallya. Subsequently, in 2018, upon its sale to the Saudi Royal Family, the yacht underwent another name change to NEOM. In 2020, the yacht was returned to Oceanco for a three-year comprehensive rebuild, the yacht re-emerged with a new identity, H3.

Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminum superstructure, the yacht H3 features a 14.6m (47.9ft) beam and a 4.6m (15ft) draft. With six decks and an internal volume of 3,521 Gross Tonnes (GT), the yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with Lloyds Register technical standards. At the time of her delivery, she was the seventh-largest yacht built by Oceanco.
In its latest refit, the Oceanco yacht underwent a comprehensive transformation. Stripped down to its bare hull, the yacht saw an 11m (36ft) extension overall. This added 8m to expand the aft deck, the addition of a beach club area, and adding 2m to the foredeck. A notable enhancement is the introduction of a 7m (23ft) infinity pool with a lifting mosaic floor. The redesign by Raymond Langton involved removing the wings, sloping glass, and bow mast, opting for a more contemporary exterior silhouette characterized by vertical floor-to-ceiling glass and flowing curves.
Exterior Design
The yacht's superstructure features subtle curves and sweeping lines. Each design choice serves a functional purpose, improving the vessel's performance and the onboard experience. The elongation of H3's hull, a significant modification from its original state, enhances hull efficiency and optimizes space utilization. Notable features include a practical touch-and-go helipad at the bow and an expansive swim platform at the stern.
Attention to detail is evident in the yacht's external areas. The aft deck houses an adjustable depth swimming pool, which can be converted to a flush deck for events. This area connects to the main salon.
On the upper decks, the integration of the indoor and outdoor spaces is thoughtfully executed. Al fresco dining areas and outdoor cinema features enhance the guest experience. The sundeck provides water toy storage and a generously sized spa tub, complemented by a comfortable seating area.
Throughout H3, functional elements are integrated without compromising the yacht's sleek profile. This includes discreet storage solutions for tenders and jet skis, ensuring the yacht's clean lines remain uninterrupted.
Interior Design
The Welcome Lounge serves as the initial encounter with H3's interior. A meticulously designed bar area is positioned to offer guests their first taste of the yacht's hospitality. The coffee table within this space is a unique feature, providing a focal point that is both practical and visually engaging. Full-height television walls in the lounge area create an immersive experience.
In the main salon, the ceiling features layers that add depth to the space, while the wall panels are detailed with precision, incorporating concealed storage behind backlit etched glass. The design here is thoughtful, ensuring that every element serves a purpose while contributing to the overall ambiance of the yacht.
The interiors are restrained, using ivory and tan to taupe. Sycamore and light oak are combined with bronze and nickel detailing, with leather, light marble, and quartz used in furnishings and countertops. Splashes of color are provided by purpose-made objects d'art.
The dining areas on H3 are diverse, offering both formal and informal settings. The formal dining table is illuminated by crystal caviar lighting fixtures, a detail that speaks to the design's consideration for the interplay of light and space. A less formal dining area is located aft, where the transitions from interior to exterior are seamless, allowing for al fresco dining experiences. This space can be transformed for entertainment purposes, featuring an outdoor cinema with a fold-down screen that doubles as a sun pad.
The helm of H3 is equipped with state-of-the-art navigational technology, ensuring safe and precise voyages. The space is designed to accommodate both modern electronic systems and traditional navigation methods. The captain's cabin, situated near the helm, reinforces the design's emphasis on efficiency and practicality.
Accommodation
H3 takes 12 fewer guests than the yacht did when she was Indian Empress despite adding the 11m during the refit. This has resulted in generous guest quarters with a total of six comfortable staterooms for guests on the main deck. Accommodation is provided for up to 20 guests. The interior is tastefully designed with light woods, leather, and subtle metallic touches, creating a welcoming ambiance. State-of-the-art entertainment systems and en-suite facilities are in place to ensure guest comfort and convenience.
On the owner's deck, two versatile cabins offer adaptability to meet guest needs, enhancing the flexibility and personalization of the living space. The yacht also includes an impressive VIP suite with a private aft terrace, providing a retreat comparable to owner accommodations on smaller superyachts.
Following the refit, the number of professional crew onboard increased from 31 to 38. This carefully considered crew-to-guest ratio guarantees a first-class service. The crew accommodation has also been enhanced, with additional high-quality crew cabins and improved facilities, including a new laundry.
Performance & Capabilities
H3's engine space houses twin MTU 4000 series engines, powering the yacht to reach a top speed of 18 knots. These engines also contribute to a significantly increased range, enabling the yacht to travel 6,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 14 knots.
The decision to replace the yacht's original triple 10,000 horsepower engines with more modern and efficient counterparts demonstrates Oceanco's dedication to sustainable and responsible yachting. This move aligns with the changing usage patterns of yacht owners who prefer longer, more comfortable cruises over sheer speed.
Project H3's mechanical advancements extend beyond its main engines. The installation of four Scania generators and an additional emergency generator ensures ample power supply for all onboard systems. These generators, combined with an advanced exhaust filtration system, ensure that Project H3 meets Tier 3 emission standards, significantly reducing the yacht's environmental impact.
The organization and state-of-the-art equipment found throughout the tank deck further illustrate the comprehensive nature of Project H3's engineering overhaul. From the chiller units for air conditioning to the Hammond sewage water treatment plant, every component is chosen for its performance and reliability. The HVAC system, which introduces filtered and temperature-controlled fresh air into the cabins, exemplifies the attention paid to every detail in ensuring optimal comfort and air quality for guests.
Leisure & Entertainment
From the infinity pool on the aft deck to the well-equipped gym on the top deck, guests can enjoy a variety of amenities onboard. The yacht also features a cinema on the owner's deck and an expansive spa and wellness area, complete with nail and beauty salons along with skilled technicians.
The owner's deck hosts a climate-controlled winter garden with retractable glass walls, offering shelter during less favorable weather, and ensuring year-round use of the garden. When fully extended, the dining table in the winter garden can comfortably seat up to 32 guests for fine dining. For a more intimate dining experience, the deck also provides a dining area for 14.
