Design & Construction
Designed around a planing GRP hull and superstructure she features a 7.3m beam and a 1.4m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 238 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the second yacht built on the X99 Fast design. Launched in December 2022 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in April 2023.
Exterior Design
Mini K2's design integrates fold-out terraces on either side, enhancing the deck space and offering a unique vantage point for guests to enjoy the surroundings.
At the stern, the vessel features a transformative swim platform, equipped with a system that can be adjusted to facilitate easy boarding from the dock or lowered into the water for recreational activities. The aft deck includes a substantial sunbed area, directly accessible via a few steps down from the main deck. This area is complemented by additional outdoor seating, encompassing U-shaped loungers and a generous bench, suitable for entertaining a larger group of guests.
The alfresco dining area, positioned adjacent to the aft galley, is another highlight of Mini K2's exterior. It benefits from a large powered window that can be lowered to merge the indoor and outdoor spaces, ideal for social gatherings or casual dining with a view. Protection from the elements is provided by substantial glass panes, ensuring comfort without sacrificing the open-air sensation.
Moving to the upper deck, Mini K2's flybridge is a versatile space with U-shaped seating, a central table, and a bar area. The yacht opts for a minimalist approach by choosing sunshades over a hardtop, allowing for an unobstructed profile and the flexibility to adapt the space to guest preferences. A secondary helm station on the flybridge provides a commanding view for navigation while entertaining.
The forward deck houses additional leisure amenities, including a secluded sun pad and storage for jet skis, complete with a crane for effortless launching. The yacht's side decks lead to the main salon and offer access to the bridge, showcasing the thoughtful consideration of guest movement and yacht operation within the design.
Interior Design
The main salon, positioned forward on the main deck, is marked by a spacious couch that wraps around a two-tiered table, allowing for social gatherings or a relaxed lounge area. A large TV is built into the wall, and the large windows, half the size of the wall, bring in ample natural light, enhancing the space's open feel.
The design incorporates vertical lines in the woodwork, a detail that adds depth and texture to the interior. In terms of illumination, accent lights are thoughtfully placed under each step and within the detailing on the walls, creating an ambiance that is both inviting and discreet.
In the dining area, a large powered window serves to connect the indoor and outdoor spaces, enabling a variety of dining experiences. The galley, located aft and adjacent to the dining area, features a Miele induction cooktop, a large wine fridge, and ample refrigeration and freezer storage, all finished in materials that match the surrounding surfaces for a cohesive look. The Miele appliances and additional prep spaces are designed for both efficiency and aesthetics, ensuring that meal preparation is a pleasure rather than a chore.
The yacht's helm is outfitted with three Furuno multifunction displays and a comprehensive set of controls, all housed within a functional layout that includes two captain's chairs. The design of the helm is consistent with the rest of the interior, favoring functionality and a straightforward approach.
Accommodation
Mini K2 provides quarters for up to eight guests in four well-appointed suites. These include a full-beam owner's cabin, one VIP cabin, and two twin cabins, each meticulously crafted to offer a tranquil retreat after a day at sea.
The owner's suite, positioned amidships, is a sanctuary of calm, exuding a sense of understated elegance. It features a large double bed, ample storage, and a spacious en-suite bathroom with a double vanity, separate toilet, and a generously sized shower. Natural light filters through the windows, enhancing the sense of space and connection to the ocean.
The VIP cabin is located at the forward section of the lower deck, offering guests a comfortable and private space. It includes a double bed, storage solutions, and an en-suite bathroom with a rainfall shower. The cabin's design integrates seamlessly with the rest of the yacht, maintaining a consistent theme of refined luxury.
Two twin cabins are situated on the lower deck, each with two single beds that can accommodate additional guests. These cabins are also equipped with Pullman berths, optimizing the sleeping arrangements and allowing for versatility in guest accommodation. Both twin cabins have their own en-suite bathrooms, complete with all the necessary amenities to ensure comfort and convenience.
Mini K2 also includes quarters for up to four crew members, ensuring that every voyage is operated with the highest level of service and professionalism. The crew accommodation is designed to provide the crew with their own space to rest and manage the vessel's operations efficiently.
Performance & Capabilities
Equipped with twin diesel MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines, each delivering a substantial 2,600 horsepower, this yacht is designed to perform. The engineering prowess of these engines empowers Mini K2 to achieve an impressive top speed of 37 knots, distinguishing it as one of the faster vessels on the water within its size range.
Cruising is no less remarkable on the Mini K2, with the ability to maintain a steady pace of 28 knots. This cruising speed is not only swift but also allows guests to enjoy the cruising experience with a blend of speed and stability. Furthermore, the yacht's fuel capacity of 10,500 litres affords her a commendable range of 500 nautical miles, ensuring that she can undertake significant voyages without the frequent need for refueling.
The advanced planing hull design contributes significantly to the yacht's performance. This hull type is engineered to reduce drag and enhance lift, allowing Mini K2 to glide over the water's surface with reduced resistance, thereby increasing speed and fuel efficiency.
Mini K2's mechanical capabilities extend beyond her engines and hull design. Her propulsion system includes water jets, which serve multiple purposes. They contribute to the yacht's high velocity and are integral to achieving the shallow draft that makes Mini K2 an ideal yacht for cruising in regions with depth restrictions, such as the beautiful shallows of the Bahamas.
For those with a penchant for even greater speed, the shipyard offers an option to outfit the Mini K2 with three MAN V12 engines, each rated at 2000 horsepower. This engine upgrade can propel the yacht to a new echelon of performance, with a top speed of around 44 knots and a cruising speed of 32 knots, further substantiating the yacht's name and performance pedigree.
