Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 32' beam and a 9'10" draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 1,011 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in mid 1990. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.
Exterior Design
The exterior design of the Mylin IV features a raked bow, contributing to its streamlined and efficient profile. The hull is constructed from steel, providing robust durability and stability, while the superstructure is made of lightweight aluminium. The deck, crafted from teak, offers a classic and practical surface for outdoor activities. The yacht is predominantly white, with both the hull and superstructure painted in this clean, crisp colour. A red boot top stripe adds a subtle yet distinctive contrast along the waterline, which is painted black for a traditional nautical appearance.
The sun deck is designed for outdoor living and includes a teak floor, an oval spa-pool, a Corian-topped bar seating ten, and a twin table dining area along the aft rail.
The upper deck is shared between technical areas, including the bridge, ship's office, and radio room, as well as the captain's cabin and the yacht's informal guest areas. The upper deck lobby forms part of a three-deck atrium and provides access to the main and lower decks via wide stairs.
The aft section of the main deck is designated for formal entertainment, featuring a main saloon and dining room. The bridge is designed for efficiency and quiet operation, ensuring minimal noise intrusion from the engines.
The deck house, which appears to be a funnel, contains a pantry with dumb waiter service from the galley and an elegant powder room with a separate entrance on the starboard side. Additional amenities on the deck include cabinets that conceal a barbecue grill and an ice chest.
The design also incorporates hydraulic rams that open watertight gull-wing doors beneath the aft deck, revealing two Shamrock tenders that can be launched by a single crew member using electrically operated beam cranes.
Interior Design
The upper lounge, also known as the family saloon, is equipped to accommodate various forms of entertainment and relaxation. It features twin bookcases, cream leather seating, a multi-topped games table, and a bar. Hidden beneath the octagonal carpet is a dance floor, while a large TV screen and projector descend from the ceiling, reinforcing the room's entertainment capabilities.
The main saloon, reserved strictly for formal events, distinguishes itself with increased use of gold tones in the fabrics and furnishings. The paneling in this area is made of limed oak, providing a whiter, less polished texture. Royal blue curtains with gold patterns complement the soft furnishings, which are further lightened by the addition of white.
Between the dining room and the main saloon, Japanese artifacts are displayed, including a miniature Shogun's helmet. These items sit between a gold burnished screen of six vertical slats that can swivel to form a solid wall, adding a touch of oriental influence. A blue and gold painting by Andrea Tana depicting a fan is mounted on the black lacquered forward bulkhead.
The dining room features a high-gloss black lacquered table that can extend to accommodate up to 14 people. The galley on the port side is designed for optimal working conditions for two chefs and a working area for the stewardesses. To minimize disturbances, the pantry is sealed with automatic doors to prevent the spread of odors and noise.
The upper deck lobby serves as an informal living area for the owner and his family. It includes a fully-equipped gym hidden behind a translucent screen. Opposite the gym is the owner's office, providing a space for more serious tasks.
Accommodation
Mylin IV can comfortably accommodate 10 guests in well-appointed cabins located on the lower deck. There are four guest suites, each decorated with individual rare marble, granite, and matching fabrics. Positioned on the forward side of the lobby, two twin suites offer ample space and amenities for a comfortable stay. Located aft, two double cabins are equally luxurious and designed for relaxation. Safety measures are a priority, with safety lockers containing smoke hoods and life jackets available in each cabin.
The owner's suite is a private sanctuary located on the main deck forward. The central feature is a king-size double bed with a floor-to-ceiling curtain-draped headboard. The suite also includes a private gymnasium and an office. The bathroom features an alcove with a large oval spa bath set in honey-colored arcobaleno marble, flanked by compartments housing a steam shower and a head. There is a twin cabin for personal staff, a massage room, and a tastefully decorated study for the owner's spouse.
She is also capable of carrying up to 16 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience. Each crew cabin is roomy and comes with en-suite facilities. Below the crew accommodation is a laundry area, and beneath the guest accommodation is a bonded store, a 300-bottle wine vault, freezers for garbage storage, and a herb garden.
