Delivered in 2008, Richar is a 185'4" motor yacht built by Italian shipyard CRN Yachts. Her naval architecture and interior design comes from the drawing boards of CRN Yachts, while Zuccon is responsible for her exterior design.
Key Features
- Unique stern spa instead of garage
- Top deck pool with a current
- Upper deck saloon with cinema
- Owner’s suite with private balcony
Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 33'6" beam and a 10'10" draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 944 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.
Construction started in early 2006. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.
Exterior Design
The exterior design of the 56.5-meter yacht Richar is the work of Zuccon International Project. The yacht's structure follows the design language common to other yachts of this size built by CRN, such as the 54m (178ft) yacht ABILITY launched in 2005. However, there are unique elements that set Richar apart.
One of the primary distinguishing features is at the stern. Unlike other motor yachts that typically house either a lazarette for water sports equipment or a tender garage, Richar incorporates a fully equipped spa in this area. The main tender is stored separately, positioned athwartships, and launched through a side doorway in the yacht.
Moving on to the superstructure, the exterior styling maintains a balance between metal and glass. This approach not only ensures structural integrity but also allows for expansive views and natural light within the yacht. The design integrates modern aesthetics with functional spaces, providing both visual appeal and practicality.
The yacht's uppermost deck includes a swimming pool that measures six meters in length and 2.5 meters in width. This pool features a built-in current for guests who prefer to swim for exercise. Additionally, the enclosed gymnasium under the mast arch houses a full set of Technogym machines for those seeking more vigorous activity.
Significant attention has been paid to sound reduction, resulting in a maximum noise level of 60dB(A) in the saloons and 55dB(A) in the cabins while cruising.
Interior Design
Upon entering the main saloon from the aft deck, you are immediately struck by the use of mahogany paneling, marble, and gold accents. Overhead mirrors enhance the space, while concealed lighting and contemporary glass engravings add a modern touch to the baroque-inspired design. The port side features a marble-topped bar with twin panes of glass engraved with a peacock, illuminated to highlight the contents of the exotic bottles stored there. Twin sofas covered in pearl-white silk sit in front of large windows framed by inlaid columns and pink velvet curtains. The flooring is a hand-made Tai Ping silk carpet, designed to complement the individual decor of each cabin.
A significant feature between the saloon and the dining room is an engraved glass panel depicting a pastoral scene, lit from the edges to accentuate its detail. The dining room is dominated by a custom-designed Swarovski chandelier, which illuminates the dark mahogany furniture, offset by mirrors and display cabinets. The entrance lobby, located amidships on the starboard side, includes a glass-sided lift providing access to the yacht’s four decks.
Forward from the lobby, the owner's study contains a burr mahogany desk and an antique planisphere mounted on the ceiling. The bedroom features a back-lit Swarovski panel on the ceiling, simulating a starry night sky. The room includes a carved and gilded bedhead and gold-leaf decorations on the walls and columns. The owner's suite comprises twin bathrooms, one with onyx and the other with rare Egyptian alabaster flooring. Gold-plated washbasins and custom-made taps and door fittings complete the luxury of these spaces.
The upper deck saloon shifts to a lighter design with ivory-colored paneling outlined in gold and pale draperies. Louis XIV velvet sofas provide contrast, and a real wood burner set in an ornate fireplace serves as a focal point. A video projector and drop-down screen transform this saloon into a cinema when needed. Glass doors lead to a smaller deck with a circular stairway connecting the various levels.
Accommodation
Richar offers accommodation for up to 12 guests in 6 suites comprising an owner cabin, a VIP cabin, 2 double cabins and 2 twin cabins.
The owner's suite, located forward from the main lobby, is a private sanctuary. It features an elegant study with a burr mahogany desk and an antique planisphere mounted on the ceiling. The bedroom itself has a suspended panel on the ceiling, back-lit to create a starry night effect, and a bed with a carved and gilded headboard. The suite includes twin bathrooms, one with rare Egyptian alabaster flooring, and gold-plated washbasins with swan-shaped taps. An opening balcony on the starboard side offers an intimate outdoor space.
Accommodations for guests include four spacious cabins on the lower deck and one VIP cabin on the upper deck. The lower deck cabins are comprised of two doubles and two twins. The double cabins have an unusual layout, with beds set at a 45-degree angle to the yacht's centerline, providing a sense of spaciousness. The twin cabins offer a more conventional layout but still provide ample space. Each cabin on the lower deck is adorned with raised and fielded flame mahogany panels, gold-plated fittings, silk carpets, and Zuber upholstery. The bathrooms feature exceptional marble work with unique floral designs and intricate borders.
The VIP cabin on the upper deck, adjacent to the upper saloon, offers stunning outside views through large windows. This cabin provides the same high quality of equipment and finish as the other accommodations, making it a highly desirable space for any guest.
She is also capable of carrying up to 14 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
