Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 11.2m beam and a 3.15m draft. The yacht is built over 4 decks with an internal volume of 1,218 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in late 2018. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in January 2022 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in May 2022.
Exterior Design
The yacht's profile is a celebration of contemporary maritime architecture, boasting a bold plumb bow and a squared-off transom that exudes a sense of power and grace on the water. The cut-away bulwarks and fashion plates that sweep aft not only contribute to the vessel's dynamic appearance but also serve to elongate the yacht's silhouette, reminiscent of a sleek sports coupé.
One of the most distinctive aspects of Rio's design is the implementation of a reverse sheer along the top of the main deck. This feature is both aesthetic and functional, enhancing the yacht's elongated impression while also contributing to its nautical capabilities. The foredeck, a substantial space designed for a variety of leisure activities, is complemented by a generous garage capable of housing an array of water toys and tenders, ensuring that adventure and exploration are never far from reach.
At the aft, Rio offers a beach club, an inviting space where guests can unwind close to the sea. This area has been thoughtfully conceived to embrace the essence of maritime leisure, providing a seamless transition from the luxurious interiors to the refreshing ocean breeze and the tranquil waters that surround the yacht.
The owner's deck, a private oasis, features a foredeck lounge adorned with vibrant outdoor furniture by Paola Lenti and an indulgent spa pool, offering unparalleled privacy and comfort. Here, guests can bask in the sunshine or enjoy the panoramic views in a space that is both intimate and expansive.
Interior Design
Upon entering the main deck, the senses are greeted by a kaleidoscope of colors. Matt white lacquered furniture and wall paneling provide a fresh, bright canvas, accented by frames and furnishings in bright turquoise, blues, and pinks, which are juxtaposed against the contrasting floor of matt-finished American walnut. The result is an ambiance that is both airy and electric, reflective of the yacht's dynamic spirit.
Central to the main saloon is a custom-made circular table by Poltrona Frau, featuring concentric oak veneers that can comfortably accommodate 12 guests. This is complemented by elegant shell-shaped chairs with legs in black-stained ash, upholstered in saddle leather. The maritime connection is further emphasized by the inclusion of deep tropical blue Azul Macaubas marble from Brazil, adorning the bar area with its wave-like patterns, reminiscent of a serene beach at low tide.
The use of customized lighting and recessed black lacquered wood cleverly defines different areas within the yacht, allowing the intensity of zones to be adjusted to fit the mood or occasion. The vibrant color scheme continues unabated in the owner's cabin and the additional guest cabins, each boasting its unique palette, from pastel greens to red/brown and green/blue hues.
The gym—a conversion from one of the original guest cabins—provides an invigorating space for wellness, while the beach club at the yacht's stern offers a haven for relaxation and water sports, reflecting a change from the previous owner's vision of a music room.
In the owner's bathroom, the experience is nothing short of spectacular, as a glass-walled shower and bathtub offer vistas of the ocean through a large picture window. LED lighting behind stitched leather wall panels creates a 3D effect, showcasing the intricate craftsmanship that weaves throughout the yacht.
Accommodation
Rio offers a sanctuary for up to 12 guests across its six elegant cabins. The owner's suite is situated on the exclusive owner's deck. It is a private retreat that delivers panoramic views of the ocean's expanse. It encapsulates a sense of openness and connection to the sea, featuring an office area and an adjoining lavish bathroom and dressing room. The suite is adorned with hand-stitched blue leather furniture and hand-painted panels, echoing the hues of the ocean and sky, ensuring the owner's tastes are reflected in every detail.
In addition to the owner's suite, Rio boasts five additional guest cabins, complete with individual color schemes and sumptuous materials. Two of these cabins are considered VIP suites, extending the full beam of the yacht, each appointed with a king-size bed and en-suite bathrooms finished in the finest marbles. These guest cabins are designed not just to sleep but to provide a private oasis where guests can unwind in the lap of luxury.
Every cabin aboard Rio has been designed to reflect a harmonious balance of vibrant colors and serene relaxation, ensuring that each guest's stay is as comfortable as it is visually stimulating. The attention to detail extends to the crew accommodations, housing up to 15 crew, which ensure that the individuals who make the Rio experience possible are also provided with the comfort and privacy they require.
Performance & Capabilities
The vessel is powered by twin Caterpillar 3512C ACERT engines, each producing a substantial 1,230kW at 1,800rpm. This formidable powerplant ensures Rio can glide through the water with grace and agility, attaining a top speed of 15 knots that speaks to its sleek and efficient hull design.
The range of Rio is equally impressive, allowing for extensive voyages of up to 4,500 nautical miles. Such capability ensures that guests can indulge in long-lasting adventures across the seas without the frequent need to refuel. This range, coupled with the yacht's storage and support for a fleet of power craft and tenders, ensures that Rio is not just a mode of luxury transport but a gateway to exploring the far reaches of the ocean in style and comfort.
Attention to the yacht's performance extends to its stability at sea—a crucial aspect of any vessel's design that directly impacts comfort onboard. While the background information provided does not detail the stabilization systems installed on Rio, CRN's pedigree suggests that the yacht would be equipped with state-of-the-art technology to ensure a smooth and stable experience, whether at anchor or cruising through choppy waters.
An integral part of Rio's allure is the peace and tranquility offered onboard, achieved through exceptional noise and vibration damping solutions. These technical refinements ensure that noise levels remain at a mere 45dB in the owner's suite and 50dB in the main saloon while in harbor.
Amenities
A gym with all the latest equipment allows her guests to keep their workout routines while at sea. Underwater lights will turn plenty of heads when the sun goes down.
