The 62m motor yacht Sorrento was delivered to her owners in 2010 by Italian shipyard Benetti. The yacht's refined interiors have been crafted by Massari Design, while her exteriors have been penned by Stefano Natucci.

Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 10.4m beam and a 3.28m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 1,000 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of the Sorrento is characterized by its Clipper Bow, which imparts a traditional and robust appearance. The deck is crafted from teak, known for its durability and resistance to the elements. Both the hull and superstructure are finished in a crisp white, creating a cohesive and clean look. A touch of distinction is added with the boot top in gold, providing a subtle contrast against the white. Below the waterline, the hull is painted black, complementing the overall color scheme.

Sorrento features seven circular windows on the widebody, inspired by traditional bull's eyes, providing ample natural light to the owner's apartment. The silhouette of the yacht incorporates the owner's preferences, including distinctive radar and forward masts, ensuring a recognizable presence in any marina.

The main deck layout is standard, with a stern passerelle providing the primary access, enhancing convenience for boarding and disembarking. The design ensures that the reception and first impressions align with expectations, making the boarding experience straightforward and welcoming.

Sorrento's structure includes Zero Speed stabilizers, which enhance stability when at anchor. This technical feature is essential for maintaining comfort in various sea conditions. Additionally, the forward mast is designed to tilt back, providing an unobstructed view, particularly useful for events such as the F1 races in Monaco.

The upper deck is designed with functionality in mind, featuring a full-sized desk equipped with on-board communication systems. This allows for efficient connectivity, comparable to an executive office environment. The captain’s quarters are located aft of the bridge, ensuring proximity to operational areas.

On the sundeck, the lift provides easy access to the various amenities, including a dining table, a steam bath, and a gym. The forward Jacuzzi is surrounded by ample seating, designed for relaxation without obstructing the view.

Interior Design

The interior design of Sorrento reflects a blend of historical aesthetics and modern functionality. The main saloon on the main deck is bathed in natural light, thanks to large windows, and features a grand oval crystal chandelier suspended above a black high-gloss varnished dining table, reminiscent of Japanese lacquered furniture. Gold accents on the metal elements add a touch of sophistication.

The saloon also includes a card table and a bar to port, creating a spacious and versatile area for relaxation and entertainment. A credenza separates the dining room from the armchairs and sofas, ensuring a structured and organized layout.

The lobby, equipped with a lift, connects guests from their cabins to the open-air Jacuzzi. The skylounge on the upper deck is designed with beast of prey and zebra patterns, evoking a safari atmosphere. A black-varnished Yamaha baby grand piano enhances the room's ambiance, complemented by sofas, armchairs, and a bar.

Throughout Sorrento, the use of high-gloss varnish, marble, and gold accents is prevalent. The guest shower on the lower deck, one of four bathrooms, does not feature a bathtub but maintains the luxurious materials seen elsewhere. The owner's office, located on the port side of the main saloon, includes a Sony hardware setup and is equipped with standard WiFi connectivity.

The interior height is comparable to that of a standard apartment, and strategic design choices help convey a sense of space. The lift connects all decks, leading up to the sundeck with additional amenities like a steam bath and gym. High-performance insulation and efficient air-conditioning ensure comfort in various climates.

Accommodation

Sorrento is designed to accommodate up to 14 guests in well-appointed cabins. The guest cabins are located on the lower deck and are thoughtfully arranged around a central, circular stairwell, which includes a lift for easy access. Each cabin is equipped with high-quality furnishings and amenities. Notably, one of the four guest bathrooms features a large shower instead of a bathtub, catering to diverse preferences.

The owner's suite on Sorrento is an exemplary space that differs significantly from conventional yacht layouts. It features a separate saloon, which includes a massive chaise longue, a desk, and a breakfast area, offering a private retreat distinct from the sleeping area. The king-size bed is a few steps up from the saloon, providing a panoramic view through 180 degrees, allowing guests to enjoy the scenery beyond the bow and horizon. The owner's bathroom, like most on the yacht, includes a bathtub.

Additionally, Sorrento includes a VIP cabin located to starboard on the upper deck. This cabin offers VIP guests a spacious area with enhanced views compared to the lower deck accommodations, ensuring a premium experience.

She is also capable of carrying up to 13 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience. The crew's quarters are strategically placed forward, ensuring privacy and efficiency. The captain's quarters are located aft of the bridge on the upper deck, designed to facilitate smooth operations and immediate access to command areas.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V 4000 M60) 1,758hp engines, motor yacht Sorrento is capable of reaching a top speed of 16 knots, and comfortably cruises at 14 knots. With her 150,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 7,000 nautical miles at an economic speed of 12 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters.

Amenities

A gym with all the latest equipment allows her guests to keep their workout routines while at sea. An elevator makes the yacht fully-accessible, while air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Sorrento also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
