Alva Yachts reveals new Ocean Eco 90 catamaran

New German builder Alva Yachts has revealed its eco-friendly approach to catamaran yachting - the 27.5m (90’) Ocean Eco 90.

Alva Yachts has utilised solar and electric power as the central design feature of the Ocean Eco 90, most obviously in an aggressive roof line that comes down to the hull and creates more than 200 square meters of solar paneling.

The Ocean Eco 90 is one of a range of eco new yachts for sale made by Alva Yachts, who were formed early this year from former company PICA Yachts. They focus on creating super-efficient, luxury, yachts.

If you are looking for an environmentally friendly catamaran for sale, then the Ocean Eco 90 is a good choice. She is available with either hybrid of full electric propulsion. The full electric version has two 500-kW units with a 360-kilowatt-hour battery bank. There are two 100-kw generators on board to also power up the batteries. The hybrid version features two diesel engines and two electric drives.

The eco-friendly design will give the Ocean Eco 90 a ‘virtually unlimited range’ according to the builder, and a cruising speed of 8 to 10 knots and a top speed of 16 to 18 knots.

The 14m (45.9') beam means there is a good amount of space to enjoy on this multihull. The main deck features a lounge, separate dining area and an optional full Galley, whilst the upper deck is home to the sky lounge, cocktail bar and a jacuzzi.

Designed by Henndesign with naval engineering by iYachts, the molds for the hull and superstructure are being completed, with Ocean Eco 90 expected to hit the water late in 2021.
