The Azimut Seadeck 7, the first full hybrid yacht under 24 meters to feature a hybrid power system and Volvo Penta IPS propulsion, has been honored with the prestigious 2024 Design Innovation Award, presented by Confindustria Nautica and I Saloni Nautici. The award marks Azimut's second consecutive year of recognition for outstanding innovation and design excellence.
For 2024, the new Seadeck 7 won the award in the 'motor yachts over 14 meters' category, with the jury praising it as "an electric hybrid yacht embracing sustainable solutions in a new collaborative vision."
The Azimut Seadeck range represents a collaborative effort between Azimut and designers Alberto Mancini and Matteo Thun & Antonio Rodriguez — Mancini crafted the exterior lines, while Thun & Rodriguez focused on the interiors.
The motor yacht series showcases contemporary solutions aimed at reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Azimut states that a conscientious owner could cut emissions by up to 40% over a year of average use compared to other boats of similar size and weight with traditional propulsion systems.
The Seadeck 7's hybrid-electric package is the result of a collaboration between Volvo Penta and Azimut|Benetti Group’s R&D department, enabling the yacht to moor and cruise in full electric mode at speeds up to 11 knots and switch to the internal combustion engine without an onboard generator.
The Hybrid Boost system offers powerful acceleration, while the energy recovery system recharges the batteries during navigation. A fast-charging mode using the internal combustion engines is also available. When anchored, the onboard batteries can power all services for up to 12 hours, in total silence. The system also enables access to zero-emission zones, ensuring respect for the natural environment.
