The Princess V42, according to Nick, is a high-spec boat. On the technical side, there is a self-steering autopilot for long trips, a comprehensive switch panel for controlling all aspects of the boat, and a water gauge to monitor freshwater levels. The boat is powered by Volvo Penta D6-350 engines which, according to Nick, make it a "properly fast boat".  The top speed can reach up to 40 knots.

The engines are housed in a well-organized and labeled compartment, which Nick commends as being "very Princess".
