Key Features

  • Top deck features large spa pool
  • Spacious full walk-round upper deck
  • Multiple alfresco dining areas on decks
  • Two Novurania RIB tenders

Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.6m beam and a 3.05m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 685 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in early 1999. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

Ambition’s layout is both practical and up-to-date. The additional length compared to a 50m yacht allows for a full walk-around deck at the upper level without compromising guest accommodation. The tenders are stowed in docks just abaft the bridge, freeing up three aft decks for guest use and eliminating the need for intrusive cranes.

The top deck is equipped with a large spa pool surrounded by sunpads and loungers. A teak bar with white leather-upholstered stools and forward-facing armchairs sits under the shade of the radar arch. Both the upper and main decks have large outdoor tables and additional seating, providing options for alfresco dining. A carbon-fiber reinforced shade can be deployed if the upper deck sun becomes too intense.

Ambition also features a permanent stern platform equipped with a fighting chair for game fishing. The main engine gearboxes can switch to a trolling mode for extra-slow speeds, making Ambition one of the largest sport fishing yachts in existence.

Interior Design

The interior design of Ambition is characterized by a traditional and cohesive style developed by John Munford. The décor is consistent throughout the guest areas, featuring raised and fielded panels of umber-stained Honduras mahogany. Each panel is meticulously framed with burr madrona and a narrow band of sycamore, offering a rich, classic look that draws inspiration from the 'Empire' style.

The main saloon is spacious and uncluttered, with a large settee upholstered in gold on blue providing the main seating area. Two large windows on each side flood the space with daylight, supplemented by light from glazed doors leading to the aft deck. Technologically, the saloon is equipped with a Crestron touch-screen controller, which allows for seamless operation of the entertainment system. A painting on the forward bulkhead can glide into concealed stowage to reveal a television screen.

The formal dining room, accessed through a door on the starboard side, is dominated by a circular table in flame mahogany with thaya and tulip-wood banding and rosewood edging. Freestanding pieces from Arthur Brett & Sons add to the room's traditional style. Notably, a pair of corner display cabinets with glass shelves and interior lighting can swing aside to reveal additional storage for tableware.

The galley, located on the port side just forward of the dining room, features a 400-bottle climate-controlled wine storage cabinet and a food lift to the upper decks. This professional-standard kitchen is designed to meet the demands of world cruising.

The upper saloon is imbued with a maritime atmosphere, accentuated by a teak-planked floor with holly splines. The granite-topped bar includes strongly fixed, swiveling bar stools with brass-buttoned leather upholstery. A Chesterfield sofa offers a comfortable place to relax and view the giant-screen TV, which can be concealed by a wooden panel.

Accommodation

Ambition offers accommodation for up to 12 guests in 6 suites. The owner’s suite is located forward on the main deck, offering a full-beam bedroom with large windows that flood the area with natural light. The suite includes a generously sized bed, comfortable seating areas, and detailed joinery. The owner and spouse each have their own walk-through dressing rooms and private toilets, which lead into a full-width bathroom. This bathroom is finished with dark onyx and features a central whirlpool bath, providing a private sanctuary for relaxation.

The entire forward section of the lower deck is dedicated to crew accommodation, which is designed to house up to fourteen crew members in addition to the captain. This area includes ample storage and a comprehensive laundry facility, ensuring that the crew can perform their duties efficiently and comfortably. The crew quarters are designed to provide the necessary space and amenities for long voyages, maintaining high standards of service and comfort for both guests and crew.

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3512 B DI-TA (A-rated)) 1,500hp engines running at 1600rpm, motor yacht Ambition is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 105,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.
