Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement w/ bulbous bow steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 8.3m beam and a 2.5m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 388 GT (Gross Tonnes).
The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in April 2013 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in June 2013.
Exterior Design
Yacht Apostrophe features a clipper bow and is finished with teak decking, contributing to its sleek and dynamic appearance. The color scheme is carefully chosen, with a grey hull, white superstructure, and black below the waterline, which, together with its dark windows, enhances the vessel's visual length and breaks up its height effectively.
Apostrophe's design incorporates curved lines and curvaceous windows, especially noticeable in the owner's area on the main deck and the sky lounge above. These design choices accentuate the yacht's elegant profile and lend it a contemporary feel. Despite its 40 meters, Apostrophe presents the spirit and appearance of a significantly larger yacht, thanks to its innovative color scheme and the strategic use of glass.
The yacht is equipped with the latest technologies while maintaining low maintenance requirements. Its exterior shaping and interior décor reflect a commitment to custom-built excellence, with every design suggestion adopted to ensure a high-quality finish.
Outdoor living spaces on Apostrophe are well-appointed. The lazarette houses an extensive collection of watersports toys, and a fold-out swim platform extends the available space for relaxation. The bridge deck serves as the main social area, featuring a modest lounge alongside a spacious aft deck with a wall bar, dining table, and lounge seating. The sun deck is a highlight, boasting a larger-than-expected Jacuzzi with two wine coolers, surrounded by elaborate silver blue backlit glass panels. This area also includes a bar, BBQ grills, sun pads, and seating, catering to a variety of outdoor activities and relaxation needs.
Interior Design
The interior design of Apostrophe showcases a deliberate and sophisticated use of materials, blending contemporary and classical elements to create an environment that is both welcoming and visually compelling. Fine detailing in stainless steel, brushed nickel, white gold leaf, and mother-of-pearl inlays are used extensively throughout the yacht. The predominant woods include stained brown walnut and ebonized makassar, which, alongside soft color palettes, contribute to a homely ambiance. This setting is further enriched by leather with detailed stitching, offering a contrast that enhances the yacht's overall aesthetic.
Art Deco influences are evident but presented in a scaled-down form suitable to the yacht's dimensions, ensuring the theme enhances rather than overwhelms the spaces. This approach extends to the marquetry, subtly incorporated into the wood textures, and a unique mother-of-pearl droplet design found in various elements such as beds, doors, and panels. The interior benefits from specially commissioned artworks, sculptures, and an extravagant selection of lamps, materials, fabrics, and carpeting.
The main deck salon and the upper sky lounge are central social areas aboard Apostrophe, designed to facilitate interaction and relaxation. Both spaces boast curvaceous windows that enhance the yacht's lines and provide panoramic views. The salon features circular seating, round tables, and cabinets arranged to complement the yacht's curved aesthetic. The sky lounge offers a similar arrangement, designed to maximize comfort and sociability.
Apostrophe successfully blends interior and exterior spaces, particularly noticeable at the aft main deck's sliding doors. These doors, made from tinted, curved glass, appear almost frameless, creating a seamless transition between inside and outside areas. This design choice is part of a broader aesthetic strategy that emphasizes fluid lines and open spaces.
Accommodation
The highlight of Apostrophe's accommodation is the full-beam master stateroom, situated on the main deck. It features a walk-in dressing room, a study/office area, and a remarkable bathroom, providing the owner with a private haven that combines both elegance and functionality. The stateroom is designed to maximize space and light, with panoramic views available from the bed through circular windows forward and aft. The bathroom stands out with its circular bathtub and shower, arranged in a His & Hers setup, and is finished in Onyx Marble, adding a touch of glamour. The intricate details such as Honey Onyx panels, engraved brass & alabaster glass wall lights, and an extravagant headboard and ceiling unit further enhance the suite's luxurious ambiance.
In addition to the master suite, Apostrophe accommodates eight guests in four cabins located on the lower deck. These cabins are divided into double cabins and twin cabins, each with its own unique identity through careful detailing, choice of lamps, art, and color palettes. Convenience is key, with TVs hidden behind mirrors in the double cabins and pop-up TVs in the twin cabins' vanity tables. The design and layout of these guest cabins ensure that every stay is as comfortable as it is memorable.
Apostrophe is also capable of carrying up to 5 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
