The 87'4" Sport Fisher yacht Thanks Buds was delivered to her owners in 1985 by Dutch shipyard Feadship. Feadship's in-house team has created the interior and exterior design of the superyacht.

Key Features

  • Triple spreader outriggers
  • Enclosed pilothouse with walkaround helm
  • Teak-decked fishing cockpit
  • Flats boat with hydraulic davit

Design & Construction

Designed around a planing aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 21'2" beam and a 6' draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 103 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Exterior Design

Built in 1985, this 26.5m (87ft) yacht carries the unmistakable profile of a classic sportfishing machine with the refinements of Northern European craftsmanship. The satin-finished teak panels, varnished transom, and broad teak covering boards wrap around a cockpit purpose-built for serious offshore angling.

The cockpit features a custom varnished fighting chair on an offset pedestal, complete with a four-place rocket launcher backrest. A transom door offers easy access for landing large fish. Two hinged, flush-mounted stainless-steel recirculating livewells, a high-capacity ice chipper, and a vented grill are all integrated into beautifully detailed teak cabinetry.

There’s dedicated utility and storage space throughout - including under-gunnel gaff lockers with 100-amp plug-ins and DSC connection, seven stainless-steel rod holders along the coaming, and a two-step box with a fire hose inside.

On the bow, a 5.2m (17ft) tender is secured via a telescoping hydraulic davit with 770kg (1,700lb) lift capacity. A pair of 12.5m (41ft) triple spreader outriggers completes the sportfishing setup.

Thanks Buds brings classic Feadship pedigree to the serious sportfishing world.

Interior Design

The enclosed pilothouse is finished in satin teak and fitted with a varnished teak-and-holly deck. Port and starboard are curved leather settees with triangular tables, each seating two to three, with stowage beneath. A centreline helm station allows for full walkaround access. Forward of the helm, a wide tan leather settee spans the space, while seven teak-faced cabinets built into the dash hold the electrical panel, satcom gear, uninterruptible power supply, wet ice maker, sink, and extra stowage.

The main salon keeps its original interior layout, with rich wood tones and large side windows. A U-shaped sofa with table faces a concealed television. Above, there’s storage for up to 25 rods, along with LED lighting and speakers. The floor is finished in neutral-toned plush carpet.

The galley is located forward to port and spans the walkway, with additional cabinetry opposite. Cooking appliances include a full-size oven, four-burner Ceran cooktop with central extractor, and a pop-up microwave/convection oven. All are hidden beneath hinged granite countertops. The under-mount double stainless-steel sink is fitted with an Instahot tap, filtered water faucet, and removable spray wand. Additional features include a garbage disposal, slide-out trash bin, side-by-side stainless-steel refrigerators with wood fronts, seven cabinets (some with pull-outs), five drawers, and even more overhead rod holders.

Accommodation

Below deck, accommodation is arranged for six guests across three ensuite cabins. The forward owner’s cabin is insulated from bow noise by a large bosun’s locker and generous under-berth stowage. A centreline king-sized berth is flanked by built-in cabinetry, two large drawers at the foot, and three top-loading lockers on either side.

The portside guest stateroom includes oversized twin side-by-side berths. To starboard, a second guest cabin is arranged with twin over/under bunks, the lower of which is also oversized. Each guest cabin has its own en suite and integrated storage.

Crew accommodation features twin over/under berths and additional stowage, with a layout that supports extended cruising or fishing expeditions.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C-30) 1,550hp engines running at 2300rpm, motor yacht Thanks Buds is capable of reaching a top speed of 25 knots, and comfortably cruises at 23 knots. Her planing hull design means she is fast and efficient as she slices through the water.

The cockpit of Thanks Buds is designed for action - teak, tackle drawers, rocket launchers and fighting chair.
