Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 18.8m beam and a 4.9m draft. The yacht is built over 5 decks with an internal volume of 7,690 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.
Construction started in mid 2013 with the keel laid under the project name 'Tatiana'. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in March 2015 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in October 2015.
Exterior Design
Golden Odyssey, initially known by its covert name Tatiana during construction, deviates from the typical sleek yacht archetype, exuding a more regal ambiance. This floating residence design aligns with its original owner's rumored royal association. The white superstructure, adorned with numerous portholes, suggests a vibrant and active environment concealed within its refined lines.
The lower deck maintains a discreet profile, unveiling a walkway aft of amidships. Aligned with its exclusive ownership, the yacht intentionally lacks expansive exterior spaces for guest use—forgoing sprawling decks. However, a highlight is on the aft of the upper deck, featuring a pool adorned with a lavish mosaic design, complemented by surrounding seating. A jacuzzi is built into a circular intrusion within the superstructure. The deck above is strategically cut away, opening this pool area to the sky and creating shelter through overhangs on each side. Aerial perspectives unveil an additional pool within the yacht, positioned just forward of the exterior pool.
Privacy and a cool interior ambiance take precedence, accentuated by vertical full-depth windows that welcome natural light into every corner of the yacht.
An outstanding exterior feature graces the aft deck, featuring two sweeping staircases adorned with teak handrails, beautifully illuminated at night. These staircases gracefully lead down to the transom, converging towards the central beach club area. The sweeping staircases, with a change of flow direction, continue upwards, leading from the main deck and onwards.
The foredeck is equipped with a helipad, and tender storage flanking both sides of the air deck.
Interior Design
Golden Odyssey, commissioned for Prince Khaled bin Sultan of Saudi Arabia, carries an aura of mystery as befits its royal lineage. Although rumored to feature the late Alberto Pinto's design, glimpses of its interior are rare in publicly available photographs.
The glimpses available confirm an interior of opulence aboard Golden Odyssey, characterized by rich dark wood, regal furnishings, and exquisite artisan rugs, all set against a backdrop of blue accents. In the formal dining area, dark wood paneling and occasional sculptured panels create an elegant ambiance, complemented by blue and cream striped curtains framing large windows. A bespoke handcrafted rug in cream with a blue border and linear pattern graces the light wood floor, while mahogany chairs upholstered in matching striped fabric maintain the thematic consistency. Creative curvature in the ceiling adds visual interest, with subtle mahogany accents throughout.
In one of the salons, a central maritime motif graces the wooden floor, accentuated by a cream rug surrounding it, drawing attention to this distinctive feature. Soft furnishings are in ocean blue hues, adorned with heavy fringe and ribbed patterns. A white grand piano commands attention. The cream ceiling with blue tile accents, embellished with mirrored elements, contributes to the elegant ambiance. Large artworks echoing the blue theme adorn the walls, while wood-framed windows draped in elaborate curtains frame picturesque views. Occasional touches of gold serve as striking contrasts throughout the space.
