Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 40'2" beam and a 12'8" draft. The yacht is built over 4 decks with an internal volume of 1,725 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the first yacht built on the Amels 242 design. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in January 2016 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in August 2016.
Exterior Design
The exterior design of Plvs Vltra, skillfully crafted by Tim Heywood, maintains the signature look of Amels' Limited Editions, exuding a sense of individuality and strength. Heywood describes the design as "strong and functional," complementing the flowing lines which he likens to an "athletically feminine" aesthetic. This unique design was not without its challenges, but Amels rose to the task, expertly crafting the curvaceous forms to create a truly individual yacht.
The black glass nestled between the Matterhorn White decks adds a distinctive touch to the yacht's design. Heywood also incorporated curving jet-black highlights to echo the curve of the wing station, which is then reversed in the superstructure. This form is further echoed in the mast structure, finalizing the design with a Marlin Blue waterline stripe.
Positioned at the heart of the yacht's exterior design is the sizable swimming pool on the main deck, fulfilling the owner's request for expansive exterior areas to enjoy with friends and family. Two 10-meter tenders also form part of the exterior setup, ensuring easy transportation to and from the yacht.
The midships area on the lower deck is home to a spectacular central spa pool, a massage area, steam room, bar, and sauna. The inclusion of a broad fold-down balcony to starboard allows guests to take in the surrounding views while enjoying the spa facilities.
The exterior design of Plvs Vltra has been carefully considered to ensure maximum comfort and utility. The spa's balcony, for example, has been positioned high enough to protect guests from any stray waves, while the swimming pool is surrounded by extensive sunpads and is conveniently located near a bar.
The exterior of Plvs Vltra is not just designed for luxury and comfort, but also for practicality. The aft of the yacht serves as a garage for tenders and toys. The unique position of the spa at the most comfortable point of the ship ensures that guests can use the spa area even when the sea gets a bit rough.
Interior Design
The interior design of the Plvs Vltra is an exquisite blend of elegance and comfort, reflecting the owners’ desire for a full-time residence rather than a holiday boat. This informed every aspect of the design, splitting the accommodation into an owners' deck, two VIPs on the main deck, and three en suite cabins on the lower deck. This arrangement allows for three generations to have their own space or come together as desired.
The initial design focus was the midships spa area on the lower deck, an indulgent space that includes a central spa pool, massage area, steam room, bar, and sauna with a window on to a broad fold-down balcony to starboard. The area boasts an elaborate mosaic of a dandelion by Sottoriva on the steam room wall and, on the floor, Mystery White and Rosa Egeo marbles curve out from the spa pool in a shell pattern. Above the pool is an artwork of gilded porcelain shells by Valeria Nascimento. This space offers an inviting area to relax and spend time, rather than a purely utilitarian zone to use and then leave.
The decor of the Plvs Vltra was a crucial aspect of the project. The owners desired an architecturally classic interior, with a selection of marbles and furniture that offered variety and individuality. The result is a highly decorative design with intricately veined marbles, stained woods, and plenty of crystal. However, the blend of neutrals with soft Cote d'Azur tones of blue and yellow ensures the effect remains light and relaxing, more like a house than a boat.
The main saloon is adorned with moon gold leaf pillars, customized Italian upholstery in ivory velvet by Pozzoli of Milan, and crystal-based lamps with silver leaf and silk shades by Baldi. The dining saloon is equally glamorous, with chandeliers by Czech company Preciosa adding a touch of class. The mosaic in the main deck entrance hall by Winch Design is a work of art in itself, comprised of marble slivers in an intricate pattern.
The owners' saloon has a relaxed atmosphere with blue-stained sycamore paneling, comfortable seating in front of a concealed cinema screen, and full-height windows that open on both sides. The owners’ office, off the entrance hall between the master suite and lounge, strikes a different note from the rest of the decor. It is a more masculine space with black stained Newood, red lacquer, gold leaf panels, and an ebonized timber desk with gilt detailing and oxblood red leather top.
The yacht's residential-feeling decor was a particular challenge, especially the chandeliers that appear to be free hanging. The solution for these fittings was to fix the thousands of individual crystal droplets with tiny metal pins. They were designed by Winch Design and manufactured by Preciosa.
Accommodation
The yacht accommodates up to 12 guests in a six-cabin layout. The master suite occupies the forward section of the upper deck, offering spectacular sea views and a degree of separation from the other guest cabins. This full-beam suite is luxuriously furnished with a central bed, a palette of calming green, neutrals, and metallics, and a hand-painted and embroidered silk wall covering of birds on a blossoming tree, all contributing to a serene and tranquil ambiance. The suite also offers access to the foredeck through doors on either side of the windows, allowing guests to take in the fresh sea breeze.
In addition to the master suite, there are two VIP suites located on the main deck, providing a high level of comfort and privacy. These suites are bathed in light from slanting windows, adding to their spacious and airy feel.
On the lower deck, there are three more en-suite cabins. Each of these cabins is equipped with spectacular marble en suites, providing guests with a luxurious and private space. The head height throughout the yacht is notably impressive, enhancing the feeling of spaciousness.
The yacht's residential feel extends to the crew accommodations as well. A full-beam crew mess on the tank deck allows the entire lower deck's nose section to be dedicated to crew quarters. A well-sized galley is located amidships on the main deck, ensuring efficient service to all guest areas.
To maximize the comfort of the guests and crew, meticulous attention has been paid to minimizing noise and vibration. The generators have been insulated in their own room, which not only reduces noise but also facilitates better maintenance access.
Performance & Capabilities
At the heart of Plvs Vltra's performance is a pair of powerful MTU 16V 4000 M70 engines that propel the yacht to a maximum speed of 16.5 knots. These engines, renowned for their reliability and efficiency, ensure smooth and efficient cruising. The yacht has a cruising speed of 12.5 knots, allowing for a comfortable journey whether you're exploring coastal waters or undertaking longer ocean voyages.
The range of the Plvs Vltra is another impressive feature. With a fuel capacity of 155,000 liters, it boasts a remarkable range of 5,000 nautical miles when cruising at 12.5 knots. This extended range makes the yacht perfect for long-distance travel, allowing you to explore the world's most remote and beautiful locations without the need for frequent refueling.
However, a yacht's performance isn't solely about its speed and range. The Plvs Vltra also excels when it comes to stability and maneuverability. It's equipped with Quantum zero speed stabilizers which ensure a comfortable cruising experience, even in rough seas. These stabilizers reduce the yacht's roll motion effect, resulting in a smoother and more enjoyable journey for all on board.
Furthermore, the Plvs Vltra has a beam of 12.45 meters and a draft of 3.85 meters, allowing it to navigate shallow waters with ease. It's built with a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure, a combination that ensures robustness and durability without compromising on performance.
Amenities
The yacht features a well-equipped gym, allowing her guests to keep up their fitness regimes at sea. Rest and relaxation can be achieved on board, thanks to a luxury spa and steam room. Ensuring everyone on board can enjoy the water to the fullest, luxury yacht Plvs Vltra offers a large beach club connected to a swim platform, with plenty of space for lounging and soaking up the sea views. The yacht features a tender garage with storage for a range of toys and accessories.
