Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 12.6m beam and a 3.9m draft. The yacht is built over 4 decks with an internal volume of 1,495 GT (Gross Tonnes).
The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.
Exterior Design
The exterior color scheme of Polar Star is noteworthy, featuring a unique shade of brown, developed specifically for the yacht after an extensive color matching process. This distinctive hue, now known as "Polar Star brown," complements the yacht's lines and adds a subtle sophistication to its profile. Complementing the hull, the deckhouse is finished in a darker shade of brown, creating a harmonious visual effect.
The yacht's stern platform was extended according to the design of Espen Øino, growing from an original 1.1 meters to a substantial 3.3 meters. This extension not only provides additional space but also contributes to improved performance characteristics such as speed and reduced noise. Adjacent to the extended aft platform is a modern sauna, offering a direct transition from relaxation to the refreshing outdoor environment.
Moving forward, the main deck aft, which was previously used mainly for tender storage, has been redesigned to include a circular seating arrangement, providing a welcoming space for socializing and enjoying aperitifs. The tenders are now discreetly hidden behind wooden louvers, integrating form and function without compromising the yacht's clean lines.
The sundeck has received the most dramatic transformation. The existing hatch was removed, and the main point of entry was shifted to the external side staircase, streamlining access. A new carbon fiber hardtop, significantly lighter than an aluminum alternative, has been installed and features an opening mechanism for customizable sunlight exposure. The sundeck is now a versatile space with a long bar, sunpad areas for lounging, and seating arrangements with convertible dining tables. The design prioritizes both comfort and practicality, with new electronics and radar systems enhancing the yacht's navigational capabilities.
A contemporary square pool replaces the original hexagonal spa pool on the bridge aft deck, flanked by expansive sunpads, which ingeniously incorporate skylight openings that double as ice bucket holders. Further attention to detail is evident in the addition of two bars, one for exercise and one for leisure, catering to the diverse needs of guests.
Interior Design
A dominant theme in the redesign is the connection with the ocean environment, reflected in the choice of materials and color palette. The stairwell carpets, custom-designed by FM Architettura d'Interni, feature a ripple pattern and hues reminiscent of the Caribbean Sea. Hand-stitched leather handrails contribute to the maritime ambiance, blending with the overall beach-inspired atmosphere. Throughout the vessel, a delicate silver gray dominates, complemented by aquamarine and bronze accents. Oak paneling, previously varnished in a yellow tone, has been cooled with a bleach wash, while wallpapers from Rubelli add a subtle, silvery shimmer.
In the main salon, cream blinds maximize the views provided by the expansive windows. These blinds allow natural light to permeate the space while maintaining privacy. The floor is gray parquet, which gives the impression of a wider area. The seating arrangement has been modernized, with the introduction of structured white couches and pale blue scatter cushions. A central mosaic, designed by FM Architettura d'Interni and crafted by DG Mosaic, serves as a focal point, surrounded by simplified decor. Storage for audiovisual equipment is concealed within a cabinet faced with shagreen and adorned with custom marble mosaic handles, above which is mounted a 65-inch cinema screen. A previously secondary seating area has been converted into a practical bar with recessed leather-covered bookcases, enhancing the room's functionality.
The owner's deck salon has gained a touch of elegance with the addition of etched mirror-front cabinets that reflect light beautifully. The marble fireplace enhances the room's sophisticated feel, and strategic modifications such as recessed plinths in the cabinets have been implemented to improve sightlines and light flow.
In terms of amenities, the yacht hosts an array of spaces designed for relaxation and entertainment. A massage room, complete with backlit furniture and practical flooring, offers a tranquil retreat. The wheelhouse now sports new screens, radars, gyros, and controls, ensuring state-of-the-art navigation and vessel management.
Accommodation
Polar Star provides exceptional accommodation for up to 10 guests, ensuring a relaxed and luxurious experience aboard this sophisticated vessel. The yacht's internal layout includes five well-appointed suites, thoughtfully designed to cater to the needs of those on board.
The owner's cabin is forward on the owner's private deck and has been upgraded to include additional wardrobe space, enhancing the storage options for extended voyages. The bed, strategically repositioned to optimize space, is set against a partition wall adorned with a leather flower motif, combining functionality with aesthetic appeal. The suite now boasts two symmetrical shower rooms, offering a balanced and harmonious space for personal care, and a small office area.
Beyond the owner's suite, there are two double cabins and two twin cabins, each designed with a keen attention to detail. The guest cabins are furnished with custom leather headboards and soothing wallpapers, creating a tranquil atmosphere for guests. The en suite facilities have been preserved in their marble elegance, with updates to fixtures and the conversion of a bathroom to a shower room, establishing uniformity across all guest accommodations.
Regarding crew accommodation, Polar Star is equipped to carry up to 20 crew members. The cabins provided for the crew are both voluminous and functional, with recent updates including new door panels and drapes to complement the existing design. This attention to crew comfort underscores the yacht's commitment to ensuring that all on board receive a high standard of living, enabling them to deliver superior service to guests.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3512B DITA SWAC) 1,379hp engines, motor yacht Polar Star is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 14 knots. With her 190,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 7,000 nautical miles at an economic speed of 12 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters.
Amenities
A gym with all the latest equipment allows her guests to keep their workout routines while at sea. An elevator makes the yacht fully-accessible, while air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Polar Star also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
