Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 8.4m beam and a 2.2m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 384 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in early 1997. She was delivered to her owners in September 2000.
Exterior Design
Queen D is finished in Awlgrip’s Matterhorn White, with all decks, including the foredeck, laid in teak. ABS classed and MCA compliant, Queen D carries a traditional tri-deck profile, subtly lengthened in appearance by her enclosed aft deck and extended boat deck above. These features give the yacht a slightly 'closed' exterior look - intentionally selected by the original sun-averse owner - while keeping her tri-deck structure from appearing too tall.
A large bathing platform sits aft, partially concealed by the flared topsides that flow neatly into the reversed transom. Twin stairways rise from the platform to the main aft deck, which is enclosed in glass and stainless steel but can be opened via sliding windows and removable doors. This area is fitted with a curved sofa, dining table and chairs, a wet bar, and an entertainment centre.
On the upper aft deck, a more casual seating area pairs with a full bar, perfect for relaxed gatherings. Up on the vast sun deck, social spaces are arranged around a Jacuzzi tub, with a barbecue, bar counters, and wide sun pads sheltered by a solid Bimini top. Triple Crown helm seats are positioned forward, with infrared barbecue facilities and bars tucked away to starboard.
Interior Design
Queen D’s interiors were designed by Donald Starkey to feel like a true family home at sea, prioritising warmth, comfort, and a relaxed, lived-in aesthetic rather than rigid formality. The main saloon is an open, welcoming space where polished mahogany raised-panel bulkheads frame a hardwood floor softened by rugs. Sofas face a pop-up television set into a cabinet aft, while the ceiling combines fabric, tongue-and-groove planking, and solid panels for visual interest.
Forward, an English-style mahogany dining table with cathedral-grain inlays seats ten guests, anchored on a rug with matching buffets at either end. A private service door connects this dining area to the galley. The entrance foyer amidships features marble floors, antique mirrors, and a day head tucked neatly to starboard.
The galley itself has a casual, welcoming feel, with a large aft settee and dining table for informal meals. An L-shaped Old Gold marble counter separates the cooking and scullery areas, with faux-finished cabinetry picking up the gold tones from the marble. From the galley, there are direct accesses to the side deck and the crew quarters below.
The upper deck sky lounge offers a second interior gathering space, with deep, high-backed sofas facing a cinema-style projection screen that unfurls from the deckhead. A marble-topped bar sits to port, backed by what appears to be a library of leather-bound books - cleverly disguising a hidden owner’s study.
The pilothouse is a working area but is finished with the same care, featuring a leather Recaro helm seat, a green leather settee, and a large, professionally equipped navigation console. Just aft, the captain’s private cabin includes an en suite shower lined in marble, with an additional day head nearby for convenience.
Accommodation
Queen D accommodates up to 12 guests across five cabins. The master suite is located forward on the main deck and is cleverly designed to allow flexibility. It is entered through a dressing area with wardrobes and a vanity. The bedroom itself lies to starboard, where a king-sized bed faces a corner-mounted entertainment centre, while a sitting area occupies the port side. An electric partition can divide the suite into two separate rooms, with the portside sofa easily converting into an additional berth. Both sections of the master suite share access to a spectacular his-and-hers bathroom, featuring twin showers, a spa bath set beneath a beach mural, green marble floors inlaid with petrified teak, and gold-fitted mahogany cabinetry.
On the lower deck, four further guest cabins are arranged around a central lobby. The two aft cabins are mirror images, each with a queen-sized bed, large wardrobe, and en suite bathroom. Forward, two twin cabins each feature an extra Pullman berth and private shower rooms. Shoji screens, English-style desks, and traditional mahogany panelling create a refined yet eclectic style throughout the guest spaces. A washer-dryer for guest use is tucked into the vestibule alongside a linen cupboard.
Crew quarters for up to six are arranged forward and accessed separately. They include a spacious crew mess with pale anigré panelled walls, a dinette, a fully equipped galley, and an entertainment centre. Crew accommodation consists of one large cabin for the engineer, two twin-bunk cabins for other crew members, and a private bridge-deck cabin for the captain, each with its own en suite bathroom. A separate laundry room with twin washers and dryers and a large storeroom for freezers separate the crew areas from guest spaces, maintaining privacy.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel DDC/MTU (16V-2000) 16-cylinder 1,800hp engines, motor yacht Queen D is capable of reaching a top speed of 19 knots, and comfortably cruises at 16 knots. With her 43,500 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 3,000 nautical miles at 11 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
Amenities
The yacht features a well-equipped gym, allowing her guests to keep up their fitness regimes at sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Queen D also features deck jacuzzi which provides excellent views.
