Hydro Tec unveils VANGUARD explorer yacht concept

The 65m (213ft) hybrid commemorates design studio Hydro Tec’s 25th anniversary and uses an ‘under-lower deck’ to maximise guest space.

Italian studio Hydro Tec has penned the new explorer yacht concept VANGUARD to commemorate its 25 years of naval architecture.

The hybrid superyacht has been styled with an ‘under-lower deck’, which is dedicated to technical areas like the engine room. This leaves the lower deck proper almost entirely free for guest use, allowing direct access between the cabins and all the amenities. These include a beach club, spa and heated swimming pool. Crew quarters are also on the same deck, located forward.

On the main deck, there’s an open main salon connected to a dining area, leading to a pantry and Owner’s suite with two private terraces. Aft is a tender garage with deployment cranes and side doors.

A helipad is on the upper deck aft, as well as an impressive panoramic skylounge with a cinema and outdoor terrace. Forward are the bridge, an office and the captain’s cabin.

Above, guests will find a remarkably large and open social area, complete with a dip pool and a plethora of settees and sunpads. The space is served by an elevator and a dumbwaiter, too.

VANGUARD is a hybrid with two engines connected to two fixed-blade propellers, as well as two generators. In diesel-electric mode, she can travel at up to ten knots.

The superyacht’s name is an ode to UK maritime tradition. Since 1580, there has always been a British warship on the water with the same name.
