A new $65million marina project that will also include an 8,000 square meter landside development is under construction in Málaga.
The Málaga San Andres Marina will have 600 berths for yachts up to 60m (196ft) in size, as well as a real estate area that will include entertainment facilities, restaurants, luxury retail areas, event spaces and a sailing school. The new development is due to be completed in 2024.
The project will also have a strong environmental focus with bioclimatic building design, photovoltaic power generation, aerothermal air-conditioning and other systems emphasizing sustainability and minimizing energy consumption.
The Marina Málaga SAN (MMS) team will be overseeing the development. Marina Málaga SAN is the main investor in the project, which will cost €60million ($65million), Ocean Capital Partners will be the project engineer and asset manager and IGY Marinas will be the exclusive marketer and manager of the marina.
“This investment elevates Málaga’s status as a nautical destination, while providing much-needed vessel berthing and leisure facilities to this vibrant region. We look forward to working with the city, port authority, and our partners at IGY and OCP on this exciting project,” says Ramón Calderón, Director of MMS.
The project is located steps from the heart of the city of Málaga, 20 minutes from Málaga Costa del Sol Airport, and ten minutes from Málaga’s train station that offers high-speed connections to Madrid and Andalucía’s many attractions.
Malaga is located on the south coast of Spain and is the sixth biggest city in the country. A recent report by German market research company Statista also revealed it to be one of the fastest-growing areas in the country.
