Oceanco’s 127m sailing superyacht Y721 breaks cover

The huge sailing yacht has been photographed being rolled out of Oceanco’s Zwijndrecht shipyard and is reportedly being built for Amazon owner Jeff Bezos.

The hull of 127m (417ft) superyacht Y721, reputed to be owned by the Amazon founder and world’s richest man Jeff Bezos, has been captured on camera for the very first time. Now known as KORU, the sailing yacht is one of the world's biggest yachts.

The mammoth yacht, being built by Oceanco, will be the longest yacht ever built in the Netherlands upon completion and the second largest sailing yacht in the world.

Very few details around the yacht have been released, although she is known to be a three-masted schooner with a bowsprit. These first images, captured as she was being rolled out of the shed at Oceanco’s Zwijndrecht shipyard, revealed a black-hulled vessel with classic lines.

When delivered Y721 will usurp fellow Oceanco build, 106.7m (350ft) Black Pearl, from the second position in the largest sailing yachts in the world. Nobiskrug’s huge 142.8m (468.5ft) Sailing Yacht will remain in top position, and 9th overall in the list of the world’s largest 100m+ (328ft) yachts.

The shipyard has demonstrated its process for building customizable superyachts of great size, just two weeks ago it launched its 117m (384ft) superyacht Project Y719 from its Alblasserdam facilities.

Its impressive fleet is currently headed by 110m (361ft) KAOS, delivered in 2017, and it has delivered 19 yachts of 80m (262ft) or over since it was established in 1987. This number is only going to be added to over the next couple of years, alongside Project Y721 and Project Y719 it also has three more 100m (328ft) plus superyachts set to be delivered, 121m (397ft) Oceanco Y722, 109m (358ft) Oceanco Y720 and 105m (345ft) Oceanco Y1050.

Project Y721 is expected to be transported to Oceanco’s facility soon for final outfitting.
