The largest yacht to date to win in this category, Superyacht H3 has been awarded Best in Refit Award at the 2024 International Superyacht Society's Design & Leadership (ISS) Awards. The gala event took place during the 2024 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show at The Broward Center for the Performing Arts, on October 30.
The ISS judging panel praised superyacht H3 as groundbreaking, highlighting her complete transformation and steps forward in innovation. H3’s massive rebuild extended the vessel’s length by 10m (32ft) at its aft, adding a new pool and a spacious beach club on the lower deck. The aim was to elevate this once state-of-the-art vessel from two decades ago to meet today’s rigorous standards in technology, safety, performance, and environmental consciousness.
Built by Oceanco, with her exterior and interior crafted by Reymond Langton Design, and naval architecture courtesy of Oceanco & Lateral Naval Architects, superyacht H3 was relaunched in January 2023.
Record-Breaking: H3 Becomes the Largest Yacht Ever to Win Best Refit
Superyacht H3 is the first motor yacht in over seven years to win Best Refit, a feat last achieved by the superyacht AQUILA in 2017.
At 105m (345ft), she's also the largest yacht to ever clinch this accolade, since the refit category of award was added in 2011. H3 proudly ranks at 68 in the YB100, our exclusive list of the World's Biggest Yachts by Gross Tonnage, holding this spot for over four years. It also made its mark in the Top 100 Longest Yachts entering back in 2011, currently sitting at rank 60.
In terms of yacht H3's features, this superyacht for sale has an Owner's Deck, complete with a private terrace and bar. This inviting lounge area offers an intimate space for gatherings. The yacht's exterior deck space accommodates a variety of al fresco dining options, with the main dining table aft seating up to 24 guests. The refit's design includes video walls for dynamic displays and a winter garden with retractable glass walls for versatile dining.
More than Cosmetic: H3's Refit
Talking about the refit itself, the goal was to modernize a yacht built over two decades earlier, aligning it with current IMO Tier III environmental standards. It was more than a touch-up; it became a comprehensive rebuild adding and removing tonnes & tonnes of steel. Richard Hein from The A Group likened the intense project phase to a "crazy love story." Stripped down to her hull, H3 was reclassified by Lloyd's Register as a completely new vessel.
Oceanco, using its deep knowledge after completing the original build back in 2000, started the refit project in 2020. In addition to the extension and pool addition, the propulsion system was overhauled with a new, modern efficient engine installation significantly reducing fuel consumption and enhancing range.
Reymond Langton Design's interior design introduced a sculptural quality, harmonizing the yacht with its surroundings. The interior was reimagined to balance luxury and warmth, with natural light accentuating its refined finishes. Innovative glass technology played an important role in this, nearly doubling the window area to blend the interior with the exterior.
H3, without a doubt, represents a remarkable transformation, setting new standards in yacht refitting. On the market for €295,000,000 EUR, H3 is currently available as a yacht for sale.
