Sale of 55m Project Apollo closes successful 2021 for Heesen

The 55m Steel model sports a revised exterior design and layout and is the fifth superyacht sold by the Dutch yard in 2021.

Heesen has rounded off a successful year with the sale of its fifth superyacht, the 55m (180ft) Steel model ‘Project Apollo’.

The sale of Apollo, also known as YN 20255, makes it a total of 260 linear meters and 3,017 GT sold by the Dutch yard over the past 12 months.

“2021 has been a very successful year for Heesen. Our semi-custom yachts, based on proven platforms and available on short delivery schedules, are making waves in both the East and the West,” commented Friso Visser, Heesen CCO. “Engineering excellence and unrivalled Dutch quality, combined with our bold speculative build programme, place our shipyard at the top of the Ziggurat”.

Project Apollo is the seventh hull of Heesen’s popular 55m Steel line to be sold, but sports a revised design courtesy of Omega Architects. Lower aft bulwarks and railings and larger expanses of floor-to-ceiling glass expand the view, increase light levels and bring a greater sensation of sea and sky into the interior.

Elsewhere the iconic vertical windows on the main deck have been replaced by continuous sheets of tinted glass, giving the profile a more aggressive look and stretching the optical length of the yacht.

The 760GT yacht accommodates 12 guests in six cabins, with the new layout also including a French balcony for the owner’s apartment and a bar around the whirlpool spa on the sundeck. Luca Dini Design & Architecture is responsible for the interior design which matches textured materials with reflective surfaces.

Project Apollo is due for delivery in Autumn 2023.

The superyacht carries many of the traits that have made Heesen one of the most respected builders in the world, namely large internal spaces, excellent fuel efficiency thanks to its Fast Displacement Hull Form and comfort and stability due to its steel hull.
