As the third in the Heesen Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) series, the project was described by Heesen as a new benchmark in sustainable luxury as she incorporates both diesel mechanical and electrical propulsion.
The superyacht's hybrid system enables silent cruising at up to 10 knots, reduces noise and vibration, and improves energy efficiency across the board. At a cruising speed of 12 knots, fuel consumption is just 98 litres per hour (excluding hotel load), reinforcing the yacht’s eco-conscious credentials.

The layout includes an owner’s suite on the main deck, a full-beam VIP stateroom, and a six-cabin arrangement designed to make full use of the yacht’s 499GT internal volume. Over 37 different materials have been used throughout the interior, with bespoke furniture and finishes crafted by Heesen’s in-house team.

We are delighted to continue our close relationship with Heesen with this timely sale. Orion’s innovative technology, interior design and build quality were key factors, along with the shipyard’s proactive approach.”

Exterior styling on the motor yacht comes from Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, who has penned a profile that features a near-vertical bow and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows. The interiors are the work of Cristiano Gatto, who has created a light, contemporary living environment using a palette of high-end materials, including Italian-sourced marble, high-gloss wood veneers, and artisan dark wood flooring from Cadorin.

The yacht is powered by two MTU 12V 2000 M61 engines, delivering a top speed of 16.3 knots and a transatlantic range of 3,750 nautical miles. With a shallow draft of just 2.15 metres, Orion is well-suited for cruising both the shallow waters of the Bahamas and deeper stretches of the Mediterranean, giving her true dual-season versatility.

Ruud van der Stroom, CCO of Heesen Yachts, commented on the sale: “We greatly appreciated the smooth and efficient sales process, as well as the collaboration with Anton Foord. From the initial discussions in January to the client’s recent visit to the shipyard, it has been a rewarding journey. Now, we eagerly anticipate the yacht’s delivery in mid-May.”
