Iris Blue, the inaugural yacht of the redesigned 55m (180ft) Steel series was delivered by Dutch shipyard Heesen in 2024. The yacht's exteriors bear the signature touch of Omega Architects, while Luca Dini Design & Architecture is credited with crafting her interiors.
Design & Construction
Designed around a fast displacement steel hull and an aluminum superstructure she features a 9.6m (31.4ft) beam and a 2.85m (9.3ft) draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 760 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in mid-2021 with the keel laid under the project name 'Apollo' as a speculative build by Heesen. This was the seventh yacht built on the 55m Steel design. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards and was completed at Heesen's Oss yard in the Netherlands where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners in January 2024.
Exterior Design
The redesign, spearheaded by the original architect Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, introduces a more expansive layout of floor-to-ceiling windows. The profile gains a subtly more assertive appearance with the incorporation of continuous sheets of tinted glass, enhancing the yacht's presence on the water.
Accommodation
Iris Blue provides accommodation for up to 12 guests in six suites. The Owner's quarters are distinctive, featuring a starboard-side veranda that significantly transforms the 78sqm stateroom. Walk-in wardrobes and private access to an outdoor area add a touch of exclusivity to the overall design. The yacht carries up to 13 crew for a full guest service.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel MTU (8V 4000 M63) engines, motor yacht Iris Blue is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 13 knots. With her 100,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 4,500 nautical miles at 13 knots.
Amenities
In addition, a beach club allows for easy access to the water and allows those on board to easily unwind. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. The sundeck is the social hub of the yacht, with a deck jacuzzi for cooling off and an inviting spread of sunpads.
