Tiara Yachts has announced the launch of its largest outboard-powered model, the 14.6m (48ft) 48LS.
The sports yacht debuted at a VIP event in Florida last month and tomorrow (1 April) will start a tour of the East Coast of the USA for customer events and sea trials.
As part of the American yard’s Luxury Sport yacht series, the 48LS features ample social areas, accommodation for four and triple outboard engines.
Even by US standards, outboard engines are unusual for a yacht of this size and type, with Mercury's all-new Verado V12 600hp engines providing a massive hit of power. Featuring two-speed automatic transmission, torque and acceleration are doled out in the first gear, before second gear provides efficient cruising and speed.

We’re proud to have partnered closely with Mercury and be one of the first manufacturers debuting this new propulsion package, fully integrating these engines into the 48 LS,” states CEO and President Tom Slikkers.
Elsewhere the bow features wraparound seating and a reclining lounge, while aft an innovative rotating lounge boasts multiple locking positions and a built-in footrest. Below deck there are two cabins, one with a queen bed and two twins.
Based in Holland, Michigan Tiara Yachts is one of the oldest privately own boat manufacturers in the United States. Founded in 1955 it offers three lines of inboard powered yachts, the Open, Flybridge and Coupe Series lines ranging from 11.8m to 16.1m (39ft to 53ft) and three series of outboard-powered yachts, the Luxury Sport, Luxury Crossover and Luxury Express.
