Aimed primarily at small-to-medium-sized high-performance powerboats, the Aquamatic Sterndrive range offers the usual sterndrive benefits, such as agility and manoeuvrability at low speeds, a tilt mechanism for beaching and use in shallow water, a clutter-free bathing platform and joystick control.

Volvo Penta also claims low carbon dioxide and exhaust emissions for these model variants. The diesel Aquatic Sterndrive model variants also offer good fuel economy. For twin-engine set-ups, there is a choice between single-prop or Duoprop Aquamatic sterndrives, whilst for a single petrol engine, there is also a forward-facing option, the Volvo Penta Forward Drive.
