The 92m (301.8ft) motor yacht Aquarius was delivered to her owner, Steve Wynn, in 2016 by Dutch shipyard Feadship. Her naval architecture and exterior design were crafted by De Voogt, while the initial interior design was conceptualized by Steve Wynn and his design partner Roger Thomas. The execution of the overall design project was realized by Sinot Yacht Design.

Design & Construction

The construction of Feadship's hull 695, initially named 'Project Touchdown,' commenced in early 2014 with the laying of the keel. The design and construction adhered to the technical standards set by Lloyds Register. Following a private ceremony, the yacht was launched in September 2016 for sea trials, and subsequently delivered to casino mogul Steve Wynn in November.

Aquarius is built around a displacement steel hull and an aluminum superstructure, boasting a 13.45m (44.1ft) beam and a 4.25m (13.9ft) draft. Spanning five decks, the yacht encompasses an internal volume of 2,856 GT (Gross Tonnes). Additionally, the design incorporates a helipad.

Exterior Design

Aquarius' profile is characterized by a harmonious balance of proportions, achieving a sophisticated yet understated aesthetic. The twin stairwells leading from the beach club's large swim platform to the main deck emphasize practicality and ease of access, while the shell door at the transom provides straightforward entry to the spa area, enhancing the connection between the yacht's luxurious amenities and the sea.

Onboard Aquarius, the exterior living spaces are thoughtfully arranged to maximize outdoor enjoyment and entertainment. The foredeck is engineered to accommodate an EC135 helicopter, increasing the yacht's versatility and offering guests an alternative mode of transport. The main deck aft houses a 6.5-meter pool that can be converted into a dance floor, surrounded by relaxing lounge areas, demonstrating a clever use of space that serves multiple purposes.

The expansive sun deck, which extends 28 meters in length, is easily accessible via the guest elevator from the main deck. It is designed to offer dining facilities for up to 20 guests, with a large sliding canopy providing shelter and the flexibility to dine in the open air or under cover. Guests will enjoy a captivating light show, courtesy of the underwater lights, while the raised three-meter (10') jacuzzi offers a 360-degree panoramic view for those relaxing in the bubbles. A semi-enclosed bar and an al-fresco dining area on the sun deck further enhance the onboard experience, creating a complete beach resort ambiance.

Aquarius is a study in careful design and refinement, where material choice and spatial planning converge to create an environment that is both inviting and functional, catering to the needs and comforts of those on board.

Interior Design

Aquarius' design ethos emphasizes a serene atmosphere, using a palette of soft tones, punctuated by vibrant color accents to distinguish each deck level.

English sycamore features heavily, offering a light and refined wood finish. This is complemented by silk carpets that provide an understated elegance underfoot, while smooth leathers and fine textiles add tactile richness to the living spaces. Ivory onyx marble is employed extensively, imparting a sense of understated sophistication.

The main saloon stands out with a substantial 128m2 (1,380 sq ft) area devoid of structural pillars, creating an expansive lounge that facilitates social interaction and relaxation. This space merges with the aft deck, crafted to enable a fluid transition between indoor and outdoor environments, enhancing the experience of being at sea.

Natural light plays a pivotal role in the ambiance of Aquarius. Large picture windows in salons and guest accommodations invite an abundance of daylight, illuminating the yacht's interior and offering guests a continuous connection with the maritime surroundings. The fluted wall details and coved deck heads complement these windows, adding architectural interest.

Central to the yacht's internal layout is the atrium, where a spiral staircase ascends through the decks, encased by a multi-level glass wall that provides clear views of the exterior. This feature doubles as a sculptural element while maintaining the yacht's connection with the sea.

The yacht is equipped with a state-of-the-art audio-visual and entertainment system. This includes a large media room on the Owner's deck, an advanced AV control system accessible via iPad and in-wall touch screens, and a comprehensive Kaleidescape entertainment system that delivers on-demand movies, audio, Apple TV, and radio. Sound quality is ensured through B&W speakers integrated with Purelink AV distribution, British Sound Web Audio Distribution, and amplifiers from Onkyo, Crown, and Denon. A 'party mode' enables distributed audio for events in public spaces.

Aquarius also includes a spa area that features a gym with a fold-down terrace for open-air workouts, a massage room, and a beauty salon, all designed to provide wellness amenities to guests during their time on board.

Accommodation

Aquarius can accommodate up to 14 guests within her seven impeccably crafted suites. The yacht's owner enjoys the privacy of a dedicated deck, which includes a stateroom with separate bathrooms for him and her, both equipped with a shower, tub, and sauna. This space also features expansive dressing rooms, an observation lounge, media room, study, and massage room, making it an exclusive sanctuary for the owner.

The VIP guest experience aboard Aquarius is unrivaled, with six large VIP suites located on the main deck. Each suite is accompanied by an en suite bathroom and presents a unique color theme for a personalized touch. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow guests to soak in the breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean, ensuring a stay that is as memorable as it is comfortable.

In regard to crew accommodations, Aquarius is well-prepared to house a team of 31 professionals, including two staff members. The crew quarters are composed of one captain’s cabin, fourteen crew and officer cabins, and one staff cabin. These quarters are designed to offer the crew a comfortable living space while they provide top-tier service to guests.

Performance & Capabilities

The yacht is propelled by twin MTU 16V4000M63L engines, each delivering 2,240kW of power at 1,800 rpm, which translates to a robust 2,990 horsepower per engine. These engines enable Aquarius to achieve a maximum speed of 17 knots, with a comfortable cruising speed of 15 knots. For extended voyages, Aquarius boasts a remarkable range of 5,500 nautical miles when cruising at 12 knots. This endurance is supported by a substantial fuel capacity of 234,600 liters, with an additional spare capacity of 41,200 liters for longer passages.

Water storage on the yacht encompasses 55,400 liters, ensuring ample supply for both guests and crew on extended trips. Aquarius features a Quantum zero-speed stabilization system, which provides exceptional comfort by reducing the roll motion both at anchor and while underway. This system is a crucial element that contributes to the stability and smooth sailing experience onboard.

Communication is facilitated by a comprehensive suite of systems, including SATCOM C with DSC, a Cellular GSM system, VHF and UHF radio telephones, and a VOIP telephone exchange enhanced with V-Sat & GSM connectivity. These systems ensure that Aquarius remains in touch with the outside world, regardless of its location on the high seas.

A gym with all the latest equipment allows her guests to keep their workout routines while at sea. Ensuring everyone on board can enjoy the water to the fullest, luxury yacht Aquarius offers a large beach club connected to a swim platform, with plenty of space for lounging and soaking up the sea views. The yacht is also home to a beauty salon, where those on board can enjoy a number of beauty treatments. The yacht features a tender garage with storage for a range of toys and accessories.
