Delivered in 2024, Ulysses is a 102.6m motor yacht built by Dutch shipyard Feadship. Under construction as Project 1011, Sinot Yacht Design created both the interior design and exterior styling, while Azure Naval Architects is responsible for her naval architecture.

Key Features

  • 1,100 sqm of exterior glass
  • Integrated helipad; hidden deck hardware access
  • Teak and steel accents on decks
  • 5,000 nautical mile range

Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminum superstructure she features a 14.4m (47.3ft) beam and a 3.85m (12.8ft) draught. The yacht has an internal volume of 3,000 GT (Gross Tonnes). The yacht has 1,100 square meters of exterior glass, including twenty exterior sliding doors and twelve glass windbreaks.

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in October 2023 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.

Exterior Design

Ulysses commands attention with its striking design. Vertical lines are used to craft a sleek and robust yacht profile with squared-off decks, featuring clean decks and precisely contoured features in all the right places. The design philosophy of Sinot is evident – they opted for a no-nonsense exterior, reserving softness for their skilled interior team. The deliberate harsh lines create an unapologetically powerful aesthetic.

Integrated into the foredeck, a helipad adds both functionality and style. Discreetly tucked beneath the floor, a hidden staircase leads to essential deck hardware and the anchoring station, cleverly shielded by the three black steel parallel lines that maintain the yacht's impeccable aesthetic.

The aft deck overhang, connecting the upper and main decks, features teak strips, occasionally interrupted with steel, to add texture to the superstructure. Gazing upwards from the aft profile, a close inspection reveals the meticulous use of stainless steel and parallel lines that emphasize the different deck levels. Smart square windows in the hull contribute to a modern and refined appearance.

Balconies with angled lines and glass extensions are elegant, and teak decks offer a smart contrast to the yacht's white and steel elements. Grey accents strategically placed within the superstructure highlight specific areas, such as the balcony outlines and deck insets on the upper and bridge decks. The masterful use of glass maximizes natural light, flowing through vertical floor-to-ceiling windows, enhancing the overall sophistication of the interiors. Feadship states that 1,100 square meters of exterior glass were used in twenty exterior sliding doors, twelve glass windbreaks, and six-meter panels of glass are in place along the main deck guest cabins.

The pool spans the entire height of the main deck, featuring glass sides that infuse the interior with a mesmerizing blue glow. Complementing this, the yacht Ulysses offers four outdoor hot tubs.

Interior Design

The yacht Ulysses is privately owned by New Zealand's richest man, Graeme Hart. No interior photos have been made available in the public domain.

Accommodation

Ulysses offers accommodation for up to 20 guests in 10 suites. The cabin layout includes an owner's suite on the private owner's deck; two VIP staterooms on the pool deck, and a further seven guest cabins on the main deck.

The main deck guest suites feature expansive six-meter spans of glass, providing extraordinary panoramic views.  A towering glass staircase and elevator in the main atrium provides easy access to all guest areas.

The crew is accommodated throughout 20 crew cabins on the lower deck. The captain's cabin and ship's office are situated on the pool deck.

The quarters include a hospital suite.

Performance & Capabilities

Superyacht Ulysses is capable of reaching a top speed of 17 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. She has a maximum range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. The yacht's size necessitates a two-tier engine room, a customary feature in yachts of this magnitude. However, Ulysses introduces a distinctive design element with a single-deck engine room, strategically implemented to allocate more interior volume for guest use. This innovative design has garnered popularity, with another ongoing construction project adopting the same solution.

Tenders

The 15-metre-long tender garage shell door is the largest Feadship has built to date.
