Design & Construction
Designed around a planing GRP hull and superstructure she features a 28'7" beam and a 8'6" draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 467 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Launched in August 2012 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.
Exterior Design
The stern of Balista features an adaptable swim platform, which transforms into an expansive area suitable for leisure activities and easy access to the water. This space is complemented by a beach club that provides a relaxed environment for guests to enjoy near the water's edge.
Moving forward, a well-conceived tender garage with a side-opening door houses water toys and equipment, including two jet skis, with additional room to spare. This area is likened to a versatile storage space, akin to a residential garage, able to accommodate a variety of gear for guest enjoyment.
Guest areas on board are thoughtfully arranged. The aft deck serves as a welcoming space for guests to congregate, offering ample seating for relaxation and socializing. The transition from the aft deck into the main salon is fluid, maintaining the yacht's streamlined design language.
The Sky Lounge and bridge deck aft are additional highlights, offering expansive and inviting areas for guests to enjoy, whether for dining or simply taking in the surrounding vistas. The sundeck's innovative layout, with a mix of private terraces and communal areas, provides a versatile space for relaxation and entertainment.
Interior Design
Throughout the Balista, natural woods feature prominently, offering a subdued ambiance that encourages a state of relaxation. The surfaces are finished in a way that emphasizes the inherent beauty of the materials, eschewing high-gloss treatments or ornate inlays for a more understated aesthetic.
The lighting aboard Balista is carefully considered to enhance the yacht’s interior atmosphere. It is designed to be functional yet unobtrusive, providing ample illumination while maintaining the calming ambiance that defines the yacht’s living spaces.
In terms of dining, the aft deck presents a spacious area where guests can gather for meals or socialize. The furnishings are chosen for both comfort and practicality, with a large table and chairs inviting informal dining, snacking, or simply enjoying the ever-changing views. The Sky Lounge offers a similarly congenial space for indoor dining or relaxation, with a decor that continues the theme of understated comfort found throughout the yacht.
Accommodation
Balista comfortably houses up to 14 guests within its versatile cabin configuration. This includes an owner's suite, a VIP cabin, two double cabins, and two twin cabins. Each cabin is designed to meet the highest standards of luxury and privacy, ensuring a serene and restful environment for guests.
The owner's suite prioritizes space and natural light, offering an expansive his and hers bathroom, ample wardrobe space, and the advantage of captivating views through generously sized windows. The decor is centered on creating an inviting ambience, conducive to both relaxation and business activities.
Guest cabins are engineered with flexibility in mind, allowing for the accommodation of a diverse range of guest configurations. The double cabins provide elegant furnishings, storage solutions such as wardrobes, and vanity units, as well as private en suite facilities. The twin cabins echo the same level of detail and are equipped with additional Pullman berths to accommodate extra guests, ensuring that Balista can adapt to varying group sizes.
The VIP stateroom stands out for its full-beam design, offering a luxurious space that can be transformed into two separate cabins if required. This feature is particularly advantageous for charters involving multiple families or groups that require a more tailored sleeping arrangement. Each partitioned space would retain its own entrance, en suite, and the benefit of the yacht's signature large windows.
For crew accommodation, Balista is equipped to host up to 10 crew members, ensuring that guests receive attentive and personalized service throughout their stay.
Performance & Capabilities
Balista is powered by twin diesel MTU engines, specifically the 16V 4000 M93L Blue Vision series. These engines are highly regarded for their performance and reliability. Each engine produces a substantial 4,670 horsepower at 2100 revolutions per minute, which enables the yacht to achieve a top speed of 26 knots, making Balista one of the faster vessels in its class. At cruising speed, around 22 knots, the yacht still maintains efficient operation while providing a swift journey.
When the engines are set to a more economical speed of 10 knots, Balista boasts a maximum range of approximately 660 nautical miles, thanks to her 46,000-liter fuel capacity. This range is particularly beneficial for extended voyages, ensuring that the yacht can traverse significant distances without the need for frequent refueling stops.
To enhance the comfort of guests aboard, Balista is equipped with stabilizers. These are integral for reducing motion at sea, particularly when the yacht is stationary, and contribute to a more comfortable experience, especially in rough waters.
Balista's planing hull is engineered to be fast and efficient, cutting through the water with ease. This design allows for a smooth ride, contributing to the overall agility and responsiveness of the yacht during navigation.
Amenities
The yacht features a well-equipped gym, allowing her guests to keep up their fitness regimes at sea. In addition, Balista features a beach club where those on board can enjoy unwinding close to the water. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Balista also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
