Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.4m beam and a 2.9m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 748 GT (Gross Tonnes).
She was delivered to her owners in March 2009.
Exterior Design
The exterior design of Chayka showcases a robust steel hull painted in a muted blue-grey, presenting a calm and contemporary appearance. The superstructure, finished in white, contrasts cleanly with the hull, giving the yacht a crisp and neat look. The boot top and below the waterline areas are both colored black, ensuring a cohesive and sleek profile throughout. The choice of these understated yet sophisticated colors ensures Chayka commands attention without being ostentatious.
Chayka features vertical pilothouse windows, which are practical for sea-going vessels but often absent in more streamlined yachts. The design integrates these elements into a more yacht-like exterior, balancing practicality with aesthetic considerations.
Chayka’s fixed foremast and stairway from the Portuguese bridge to the foredeck reflect a shift towards simpler, more robust design elements. The bridge deck aft has been reconfigured to make better use of the available space, leaving the area beneath the mast arch open to the breeze rather than enclosing it with glass.
Access to the yacht is facilitated by a conventional passerelle incorporated at dock height, simplifying the boarding process. The main deck saloon features large panes of glass and fully glazed sliding doors, offering an unobstructed view of the sea and a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. The engine room ducts are positioned aft of the saloon, avoiding the visual block that typically divides such spaces, resulting in a more cohesive interior.
The sun deck offers an alfresco dining area shaded by an awning extending from the mast, providing seating for at least 14 guests.
Additional deck areas include a forward-facing sofa near the bridge for privacy and a glass-backed spa pool on the aft deck, which can be filled with salt or fresh water. The bathing platform features a multi-functional "passa-crane" for boarding, swimming, and launching the tender.
Interior Design
The interior design of Chayka features a focus on both functionality and aesthetic appeal, with an emphasis on creating a warm and sophisticated atmosphere. The design incorporates a variety of high-quality materials, including natural oak, darker walnut, pale leather, and planked walnut flooring. These materials provide a cohesive and refined look throughout the yacht's interior spaces.
The main deck saloon is a central living area with ten large panes of glass on either side and fully glazed sliding doors that open to the aft deck. This design choice allows for abundant natural light and panoramic sea views. The saloon is furnished with oversized pieces that replicate the casual atmosphere of a quality club. Two large sofas, separated by low macassar ebony tables, dominate the aft section, while the forward section serves as a media lounge with a large and comfortable sofa facing a 60-inch plasma screen.
The upper salon and its adjoining deck serve as the yacht's primary dining area. The focal point here is a round 12-seater table situated within a semi-circular space edged by floor-to-ceiling sliding doors. These doors can open to provide an indoor-outdoor dining experience. The dining salon also includes an L-shaped sofa and easy chairs for guests to relax before or after meals.
The main deck lobby provides access to the three enclosed decks via stairs and a lift. It also features a secluded niche with a games table. The dining room on the upper deck is self-contained, allowing guests to enjoy cocktails and meals in privacy. The round skylight above the dining table enhances the level of natural light in the room.
The use of emperador marble in the day heads and en suites adds a rich, variegated texture to these spaces. The main deck saloon extends naturally to the aft deck, where additional seating is available under the shade of the overhang.
Accommodation
Chayka offers accommodation designed to comfortably host up to 12 guests in six cabins. The master suite, located on the main deck, is a highlight of the Chayka's accommodations. This full-beam suite includes five tall windows on either side, providing impressive views and natural light. The suite is entered through a spacious study, which is furnished with a desk and a leather-upholstered sofa. The bedroom can be accessed via two routes: one through two separate dressing rooms to port and another directly into the bedroom from starboard. The master bedroom itself is elevated, offering a forward view over the yacht’s bow. The en suite bathroom is semi-circular, featuring a heated marble floor, a spa bath encased in emperador marble, and a glass-walled shower.
The VIP suite, situated on the lower deck, offers a bedroom to starboard and a sitting room/office to port. This suite includes a dressing room and a shower room.
In addition to the master and VIP suites, the Chayka features four other guest cabins on the lower deck. These include two large double cabins that are mirror images of each other, a smaller double cabin, and a twin cabin.
The Chayka also provides accommodation for a crew of 12. The crew quarters include a captain's cabin and five double-bunked en suite cabins located forward on the lower deck. These are adjoined by a well-sized mess, ensuring that the crew are well-catered for and can perform their duties efficiently.
