Delivered in 2013, Checkmate is a 145' motor yacht for sale built by Italian shipyard Benetti. She features exterior design by Stefano Righini and interior styling by Zuretti.

Design & Construction

Designed around a full displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 30'3" beam and a 8'6" draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 456 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in early 2010. This was the sixteenth yacht built on the Vision 145' design. Launched in June 2012 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was completed at Benetti's Viareggio yard in Italy where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners in January 2013.

Exterior Design

Launched in 2013, Checkmate is a notable vessel from the Benetti Vision series, credited with influencing subsequent Italian yacht designs under 500gt.

Featuring a sleek raked bow and functional foredeck, Checkmate maintains clean lines with inset storage. A guest area aft offers sun pads and circular seating, with crew access provided by a ladder onto the coaming. The bridge deck forward features walkways creating a Portuguese bridge.

The yacht's profile juxtaposes a dark hull with a pristine white superstructure, accented by vertical glazing and strategically placed square portholes for natural light. A red and white bootstrap marks the waterline, while teak handrails contrast elegantly with the dark hull and stainless steel guardrails.

Checkmate's design exhibits a forward-flowing dynamic, with angles sweeping forward on all deck levels until the sun deck. Here, the radar canopy is raked in reverse, and provides a shaded canopy over the guest areas.

The sun deck offers ample guest amenities, including sun loungers, an elevated jacuzzi, circular banquette seating, a corner bar, and a circular al fresco dining area. Cream furnishings with navy blue accents provide contrast, with an outward-angled windscreen enhancing the feeling of openness and continuity from the seating area.

Interior Design

The interiors of Checkmate exude a warm Mediterranean style, accentuated by pops of tangerine orange and azure blue against cream furnishings. Rich cream carpets provide a plush base, complemented by prominently featured highly lacquered cabinetry adorned with black harlequin lines. Peacock blue antique oval-backed armchairs add vibrancy to the salon, harmonizing effortlessly with mid-century wicker and chrome cantilever chairs by Harvey Probber, complete with cream cushions. Modern and eclectic artwork adorns the walls, adding character to the space.

In the lobby, Hollywood Regency gold leaf "pop" sconces designed by Fisher Weisman illuminate the corners by the window, nestled into fluted columns. A sweeping staircase with textured carpet treads, wood styling, and steel and ribbed wood handrails adds to the ambiance.

Art Deco hints are subtly incorporated into the cabins, featuring extensive use of wood and crisp white linens for a timeless appeal. Intricate marble accents are found throughout the guest bathrooms, adding a touch of luxury to the onboard experience.

Checkmate offers accommodation for up to 10 guests in 5 suites comprising an owners cabin located on the main deck, 2 VIP cabins and 2 twin cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 10 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
