Design & Construction

Designed around a semi-displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 10m beam and a 2.4m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 833 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.

Construction started in mid 2007 with the keel laid under the project name 'Fangio'. This was the second yacht built on the Silver Series design. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

The hull design of the yacht is a testament to efficiency and innovation. Initially deemed improbable, the collaboration between the owner, a longstanding advocate of environmental responsibility, and Espen Oino resulted in a lightweight vessel with a narrow beam and fine entry point. This design choice optimizes dynamic flow patterns, seakeeping ability, and stability.

Deeply recessed portlights on both the interior and exterior of the yacht add a sense of gravitas and sophistication. This design feature subtly creates the impression of a thicker and heavier hull, despite Silver's remarkable lightweight construction.

The wide teak-soled bathing platform features a swing-out pontoon section and passerelle that also serves as a diving board. Concealed under the transom, the beach club offers a range of amenities, including a gym, sauna, day head, and showers. Twin steps on either side of the transom provide access to the spacious aft deck. Shaded by white canopies, this area doubles as a large alfresco dining and entertainment space, complete with a couch and raised sun pad. Additionally, a projector and screen can be deployed to create an outdoor cinema experience.

The foredeck of the yacht showcases a deep recess for mooring and anchoring equipment, positioned before the flush helipad. Visually prominent with its distinct circle marking, the helipad provides a designated landing space. Tender and water toy garages, seamlessly integrated into the hull design, offer convenient side access near the bow.

Moving aft, the stern view reveals two deeply recessed staircases on either side, leading from the transom up to the lower deck. Here, guests can enjoy sun pads and seating, providing a comfortable and inviting space for relaxation and leisure.

Dragonfly, an innovative yacht with an environmental focus, offers high speed, comfort, and elegance for up to 18 guests.

Interior Design

The glass doors accessing the salon glide open on approach, revealing a reception area that doubles as a library or TV lounge. Here, one begins to become aware of the interior themes that run throughout the yacht.

A white sofa matches the custom white carpets, and the white leather-lined ceiling conceals the lighting and sound system. Dark mahogany veneer and a burnt orange table beneath the large flatscreen provide contrast and color accent. The recessed bookshelves to starboard are square-cut and angular, creating a modern theme that continues in the picture windows flooding the main salon with light.

Mood lighting creates a soothing ambiance, and a touch-screen set into burnt orange cladding on entry controls a hi-tech entertainment system.

While a large sofa suite dominates the salon, there is still plenty of space to accommodate all of the yacht’s 22 guests in the formal dining area.

Accommodation

The yacht provides accommodation for up to 18 guests in nine suites comprising an owner's cabin, three VIP cabins, one double cabin, two twin cabins and two single cabins. Up to 16 crew are on board to ensure a full guest service.

The suite of VIP guest cabins situated forward on the main deck is accessed by a short corridor to starboard. Comprising three large suites, the VIP accommodation boasts a level of interior fit-out consistent with the yard’s philosophy of no compromise. The beds appear to float on pools of soft light, and the white leather wall coverings are complemented by a flowing curve of highly polished mahogany veneer, housing the portlights.

The ensuites feature twin washbasins and vanity space. Four additional ensuite guest cabins are located on the lower deck. While smaller in size, these cabins maintain a high standard of design and provide flexible accommodation options. One cabin features bunk beds suitable for younger passengers, while another includes a Pullman bed supplementing the double berth. A partition between the third and fourth cabins can be removed to create a larger single suite or a family cabin.

Occupying the entire top deck, the owners’ suite is suitably impressive. The master cabin faces forward, offering light and views on three sides through tinted glass. The bed sits atop a raised platform of tanned leather, while a divan or daybed provides fantastic views under the raked windscreen. White custom carpets, dark mahogany cabinet work, and burnt orange accents continue the interior theme. A small office area offers a quiet workstation and access to the dressing area. Amidships, one marbled ensuite features a shower, while the other, slightly larger bathroom includes a bath and additional vanity space. The aft section of the top deck comprises the spacious owner’s salon, with access through electric glass doors to a private terrace.
