Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 10.8m beam and a 3.46m draft. The yacht is built over 4 decks with an internal volume of 963 GT (Gross Tonnes).
The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in August 2014 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.
Exterior Design
The use of coconut and mother-of-pearl on the outdoor furnishings injects a Bali influence, while the use of travertine stone pays homage to the grandeur of Ancient Rome. Thai elements, including pen-shell ornaments and wooden Buddhas, add to the yacht's eclectic style, ensuring every aspect of Illusion V's exterior contributes to a narrative of global sophistication.
The rose motif is integrated into the yacht's exterior, from embossed details on the cushions to the intricate designs that embellish the transom and the spa pool's base.
The sundeck of Illusion V is a crowning glory that offers guests an expansive open-air retreat. The central dining area provides a semi-enclosed space for 12 guests, merging formality with a relaxed atmosphere. This clever design ensures that it remains a versatile, all-weather dining venue, complete with a coffered ceiling treatment that adds an extra touch of elegance.
The yacht's upper deck serves as the social hub in the evenings, where guests can gather for drinks at yet another bar, one of five on board. Here, too, the design is thoughtful and deliberate, with matte coconut paneling and travertine embellishments that exude luxury and comfort. The bar stools, inlaid with mother-of-pearl, are not only exquisite but also reinforce the vessel’s commitment to unique and sophisticated design choices.
For Illusion V, the foredeck offers a transformable space deliberately left uncluttered to serve a multitude of purposes. Whether it's for a barbecue, morning exercise, or simply as a tranquil spot for the crew.
Interior Design
The defining feature of the yacht's decor is the rose motif, a symbol of luxury and affection, gracefully woven into the very fabric of the yacht's being. From the soft furnishings to the wall linings, this timeless floral emblem is intricately incorporated in a variety of textures and materials, each iteration more alluring than the last. The rose's presence on Illusion V is more than mere decoration; it is a narrative thread that binds the spaces together with a sense of continuity and thematic integrity.
Within the vessel's interiors, one finds a palette where contrast reigns, reminiscent of the iconic styles of Coco Chanel and René Lalique. Here, the focus is on shape and texture rather than color, allowing the natural beauty and opulence of the materials to speak for themselves. Hand-carved travertine, white onyx, goatskin parchment, and shagreen are juxtaposed with Lalique crystal, creating an ambiance that is both sophisticated and harmoniously balanced.
The main saloon offers floor-to-ceiling windows that invite natural light to dance across the surfaces, playing off the 480 Lalique crystals embedded within. A hidden 75-inch television ensures that technology complements rather than intrudes upon the space. The same ethos extends to the guest suites, where the requisite audio-visual amenities are discreetly integrated, ready to serve yet never overshadowing the room's elegant design.
The leather walls of the staircase are embossed with three-dimensional roses, a tribute to the skillful craftsmanship that Green & Mingarelli invest in every project. The use of luxurious materials extends throughout the yacht, with goatskin parchment and shagreen lending depth and richness to the coffee tables and other surfaces.
From the coffered ceiling to the bars paneled in coconut, Illusion V's interiors are sure to impress.
Accommodation
Illusion V graciously hosts up to 12 guests within its beautifully appointed interiors. The vessel features six cabins, each designed to provide a sanctuary of relaxation for guests. The master suite is a sanctuary, where the headboard and cushions are adorned with beaded roses, highlighted with crystal bugle beads. The master suite is complemented by a bathroom crafted from white onyx, providing a spa-like atmosphere.
On the lower deck, guests are welcomed into the VIP cabin, which spans the yacht's full beam and is furnished with the same luxurious white-onyx finish as found in the owner's suite.
Adjacent to the VIP quarters are four additional guest cabins, two of which are doubles and two twins, each offering ample space and comfort.
In every cabin, guests will find state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment seamlessly integrated into the design, ensuring entertainment options are always within reach yet never intrusive. The designers have ensured that the technological amenities are a subtle complement to the guest experience, maintaining the cabins' serene ambiance.
Illusion V ensures that her crew is accommodated with the same level of care and attention to detail. The crew quarters can accommodate up to 14 professionals and are designed to provide comfort and privacy, allowing the team to rest and rejuvenate, ensuring the highest level of service for guests at all times.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by two Caterpillar engines, Illusion V is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, with a cruising speed of 12 knots. This balance of power and grace ensures that guests can enjoy a swift journey without compromising on the serenity that a yacht of this caliber is expected to provide.
Her range is equally impressive, offering a transatlantic cruising capability that is perfect for those looking to explore the world's most exclusive destinations. With her 115,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots, ensuring that guests can enjoy extended voyages in total comfort without the frequent need to refuel.
One of the most notable features contributing to the vessel's comfort is the state-of-the-art stabilization system. Equipped with at-anchor stabilizers, Illusion V can maintain a smooth and stable experience both while cruising and when stationary. This is particularly beneficial for guests who are sensitive to motion, as it minimizes the effects of the sea's movement, ensuring a restful and enjoyable stay on board.
The focus on a quiet and vibration-free environment is evident in the attention to the placement and insulation of the generators. The owner's specifications for a yacht that could remain at anchor for extended periods without any noise pollution have been expertly addressed. Generators are installed on specialized mounts that absorb vibrations and noise, allowing guests to relax in a tranquil atmosphere, undisturbed by the mechanical operations of the yacht.
Illusion V also boasts a sophisticated exhaust system designed to eliminate any smoke or smell, thus ensuring that the air remains fresh and the ambiance unspoiled, whether guests are enjoying the sundeck or dining alfresco.
Amenities
A gym with all the latest equipment allows her guests to keep their workout routines while at sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Illusion V also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
