Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 8.9m beam and a 2.5m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 493 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.
Construction started in early 2001. Launched in April 2003 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in May 2003.
Exterior Design
The exterior design of King Louis is defined by its raked bow and sleek lines. The deck, crafted from teak, adds a touch of durability and elegance. The hull is painted in a distinctive metallic powder blue, providing a sharp contrast to the white superstructure. Below the waterline, the yacht features a black color scheme, ensuring a cohesive and striking appearance.
A notable feature of the King Louis is the distinctive circular structure located at the aft of the uppermost deck, which serves as a helicopter landing pad. This feature is moderately rare for a 46-meter yacht and has a secondary function: it can be raised by four hydraulic rams to become a sun awning for the spa pool beneath. This spa pool is surrounded by a ring of teak and connected to the rest of the sun deck by a broad flight of steps.
The upper deck also includes a helipad that conceals the spa pool, highlighting the dual functionality of the yacht's design elements. The sun deck is predominantly laid with bare teak, allowing for loose furniture to be arranged as desired. Forward to port and starboard, there are circular seating and casual dining areas.
Interior Design
The main deck saloon features a palette dominated by bright mauve, yellow, green, and orange, which are incorporated into the carpet and complemented by pink muslin window blinds and pastel green mullions. The entrance is marked by crimson chairs shaped like lily petals, set on a bamboo floor with a narrow band of black granite. This layout directs the eye forward past curved walls of birch burl and cream imitation leather, leading into the main body of the room. Two cream leather settees, accented with brightly colored cushions, face each other across the carpet, under a glass deckhead shaded by blinds.
The dining area, adjacent to the saloon, features a birch burl dining table with a blue-veined marble edge, bordered by large windows and flowing birch sideboards. Additional details include curved wall panels that conceal a bar cabinet and a 50-inch television, three tropical fish tanks set into a semicircular chessboard wall, and illuminated slits in the window frames. The lighting system above the dining table includes pinpoint lighting with subtle color and intensity changes from sconces and hidden sources.
The galley, located forward of the saloon on the port side, is designed for efficiency and practicality. Finished in stainless steel with black granite worktops, it is equipped with Miele and Gaggenau appliances. Despite its functional nature, the galley features a vivid crimson deckhead, adding a touch of color to the space.
One of the most striking elements of King Louis is the glass spiral staircase, positioned behind a curved fish tank wall on the starboard side. This staircase, illuminated by colored fiber optics within the central column, extends from the lower deck to the sun deck, and is particularly impressive at night.
Accommodation
A standout feature of King Louis is the expansive master suite located on the bridge deck. At its center is a circular bed with crimson leather trim, positioned to provide stunning views over the stern through curved glass doors. The en suite bathroom features twin washbasins and a circular spa bath, emphasizing both luxury and functionality.
King Louis includes a versatile stateroom on the main deck forward of the lobby. This room has two double beds that can be folded into the wall, allowing it to serve as a VIP stateroom, a children's playroom, or a combination of both. A removable partition can divide the space, and while the single shower room must be shared, its design ensures comfort and convenience.
On the lower deck, two children's staterooms occupy the space typically reserved for four guest staterooms. Each room includes a bedroom area with two single beds divided by a wardrobe and an open-floored play area. One room features an en suite bathroom and a writing desk, while the other includes a shower room and a curved settee. These staterooms can be interconnected through a door linking their play areas, providing a spacious and flexible environment for younger guests.
She is also capable of carrying up to six crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
