Delivered in 2000, Kisses is a 53.3m motor yacht built by Dutch shipyard Feadship. The yacht's exteriors have been penned by De Voogt, while George Larson has designed her interiors.

Key Features

  • Split-level sun deck with gym
  • Minimalist art deco interior style
  • Full-beam main deck accommodation
  • Classic features with modern design touches

Design & Construction

Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.5m beam and a 2.9m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 751 GT (Gross Tonnes).

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of Kisses is defined by its clean lines and understated elegance. The yacht features a raked bow that provides both aesthetic appeal and functional benefits, enhancing performance and stability. The hull and superstructure are constructed from durable steel, ensuring longevity and robustness. Both the hull and superstructure are finished in a classic white, lending a cohesive and timeless look.

One notable feature is the positioning of the bow. To avoid the high-bow appearance common in yachts with full-beam main deck accommodation, Adelaar positioned the bow halfway between the continuous sheer line and the high-bow sheer line. This design choice creates a 'pointed nose' effect, further emphasized by a black line that makes Kisses appear longer than its actual length.

Another innovation is the absence of the traditional Portuguese bridge walkway forward of the pilothouse. Instead, the bridge deck side decks continue down twin stairs to the foredeck. This, along with the unbroken superstructure forward of the pilothouse, enhances the yacht's sleek and narrow appearance. The side decks are illuminated by strip lighting at night, adding to this streamlined look.

The Novurania 600 tenders are positioned adjacent to the pilothouse, optimizing space across all three decks. The main and boat aft decks are kept clean, with extendable tables that can seat up to 10 diners, enhancing the open feeling.

The sun deck is designed with a split-level layout containing two distinct areas. The aft section includes a gymnasium with a treadmill, exercise bike, spa pool, and sun pads, along with a fabric awning arrangement for shade. Four steps lead up to a curved teak bar with seating for six, followed by a large alfresco dining area with two oval tables. The use of lightweight composite materials and art deco pillars hints at the interior style.

Interior Design

The interior design of Kisses reflects a minimalist Art Deco aesthetic, integrating clean lines, bold colors, and detailed craftsmanship. The main entrance, located amidships on the starboard side, sets the tone with a Carelian burl cabinet and a single piece of artwork – a painting of a bowl of Kisses.

The main saloon features unique windows that offer panoramic views, supported by glass panels etched with Edgar Brandt's motif. The dark richness of the carbon ebony flooring merges with black leather columns. Furniture is minimal, with two settees and four anigré chairs surrounding a redwood burl coffee table inlaid with stainless steel, set on a large oval carpet. The dining room, free from external staircases, uses minimal furniture to enhance spaciousness. The anigré table with mother-of-pearl inlay stands out, and integral insulation ensures a pleasant acoustic ambiance, with woven natural leather and upholstery on the walls and ceilings.

The owners' suite includes a study and a walk-in wardrobe. The stateroom features pale carpets and fabric-panelled walls, enhancing the displayed art. A sliding panel conceals a plasma-screen television. The bathroom, divided into his-and-hers sections by a central bath, uses translucent white onyx and features art deco hardware.

The sky lounge on the boat deck offers a more intimate atmosphere. Brown leather walls and columns match the four chairs around a Carelian burl coffee table. A work of art conceals a plasma-screen television, viewable from a multi-colored sofa. The pilothouse combines teak parquet and anigré wood with a white leather ceiling, and features two pilot chairs and a state-of-the-art electronics dashboard.

Each ceiling on the main and boat decks features a tinted mirror centerpiece bordered by upholstered leather panels, a ring of Carelian burl, a lighting cove, and a ring of palladium. These design elements, along with the use of lightweight composite materials on the sun deck, reflect the owners' dedication to modern art and minimalist decor.

Accommodation

Kisses can comfortably host up to 10 guests across five well-appointed staterooms. The guest cabins include one twin and three double staterooms, each providing ample space and privacy.

The owner’s suite is a full-beam area, designed with both function and elegance in mind. Upon entering, guests encounter a tasteful study and a walk-in wardrobe. The stateroom itself features pale carpets and fabric-paneled walls that enhance the display of art pieces. One notable feature is an electrically operated sliding panel that conceals a plasma-screen television.

The owner’s bathroom is divided into his-and-hers sections by a spacious bath. The use of slightly translucent white onyx and subtle lighting creates a luxurious atmosphere, further enhanced by art deco hardware throughout the space.

Crew accommodation is situated forward of the engine room and includes a spacious mess and five cabins that can accommodate up to 12 staff members.
