Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement GRP hull and a grp/aluminium superstructure she features a 38'9" beam and a 12'7" draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 879 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.

Construction started in mid 1985. She was delivered to her owners in November 1986.

Exterior Design

Yutaka Jojima's exterior styling for the yacht has proven timeless — its classic design has retained its strength and enduring appeal.

The top deck features a convenient helipad situated on the sun deck, accompanied by sturdy handrails when the space is in use by guests. These handrails fold down hydraulically to facilitate helicopter landings. Ensuring unobstructed access, all aerials, masts, and radar equipment are positioned aft, near the sun lounger area and circular spa pool. Beneath the helipad, the bridge includes a Portuguese bridge for added functionality.

At water level, a large transom door hinges downward, revealing a bathing platform for easy access to the water and boarding the yacht's tenders. When opened the staircase becomes visible, one that perfectly aligns with the central staircase from the main deck aft. The stern cuts away sharply when not in use, with a contrasting black boot strap at the water level against the stylish grey hull.

The hull showcases a row of portholes below a prominent strake, leading to the sleek side profile that culminates in a raked bow. The topsides rise at intervals from a low stern to slightly higher amidships, then ascend forward to meet the foredeck. Openings in the gunwales forward add both operational functionality and visual appeal. The foredeck provides stowage for the yacht's watercraft and tender (there is additional tender stowage on the port side deck aft). The white superstructure is clean and balanced, with deck levels providing a slight overhang forward for shade over the vertical glazing. Aft, the upper deck overhang provides shade for the main deck's spacious guest area.

The main deck aft serves as a generous guest relaxation and social space, featuring a central staircase leading to the deck above. Well-placed sun loungers and wide side decks aft offer opportunities for activities such as yoga or fitness biking when not in use for personal watercraft stowage.

Welcoming guests to the upper deck, the main deck staircase captures the essence of Parisian Art Deco style, adorned with a pair of Max Le Verrier Clarté lamps. This area features a superb relaxation zone with banquette seating, free-standing woven armchairs, occasional tables, and cushions that introduce a pop of lilac and purple against the neutral background.

The al fresco dining area is situated under the canopy on the upper deck aft, featuring a lacquered oval table and ample seating for guests. Noteworthy triple columns on either side of the dining area serve as intriguing architectural features, providing support for the deck level above.

The sun deck stands out as the pièce de résistance of exterior guest space, boasting a sunken jacuzzi, generous sun pads and seating, a fully stocked bar, and both forward and rear-facing seating areas offering elevated views.

A prominent side profile feature is the high section of the superstructure from the bridge deck to where it meets the sun deck, with five slim vertical opening vents.

Interior Design

Since the 2023 refit, Lady A's interiors have embraced a chic contemporary aesthetic anchored in neutral tones, accented by occasional fittings like cushions and throws that introduce pops of color. The influence of Art Deco is evident throughout, showcased in sculptures within the main salon and cream leather bar stools at the leather roll-top bar. Black marble-topped occasional tables and horizontal grain wood veneer cabinetry add visual interest, complemented by textured rugs atop wooden flooring.

Another salon boasts a herringbone wooden floor and soft sofas with highlights of caramel and toffee, creating a cozy ambiance. Artwork inspired by the Impressionist movement of the late nineteenth century adds a touch of sophistication.

Cabin interiors exhibit a modern look, featuring paneled headboards, neutral-tone plain carpets, textured bed frames, and sumptuous sofas for added comfort. Porta Romana lamps adorn the half-wood-paneled private office of the owner's suite, where a Vitra grand conference highback chair adds elegance to the wooden desk. In the guest accommodation, pale carpets and wood panels create a serene atmosphere, complemented by further Art Deco-inspired sculptures, ensuring a calm and relaxing retreat for guests.

Accommodation

Sun Voyager offers accommodation for up to 12 guests in a total of five cabins. Situated at the forward end of the guest accommodation block, the master suite spans the full beam of the hull. The suite is decorated in apricot, salmon, and cream tones, complemented by lacquered bird's eye maple woodwork. The space includes a private lounge area with a writing desk, as well as extensive bathroom and wardrobe areas.

In addition to the master suite, Sun Voyager includes four double guest suites. Each suite is designed with its own distinct color scheme, and all feature en-suite bathrooms equipped with spa baths and gold-plated fittings.

Crew quarters are located forward and encompass two levels. This area includes a spacious lounge and mess deck, in addition to five double cabins and a single cabin.
