Design & Construction

Designed around a catamaran composite hull and superstructure she features a 9m beam and a 2.3m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 298 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Launched in February 2013 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of Shu U Rite, crafted by Sicilian naval architect Mauro Giamboi, stands out with its elegant lines that manage to capture the sophistication of a monohull vessel while encompassing the voluminous advantages of a catamaran build. The yacht's profile is defined by a harmonious balance of form and function, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and practicality.

Spanning four decks with a nine-meter beam, Shu U Rite offers a significant increase in space compared to a traditional single-hull yacht of equivalent length. This design choice, driven by a commitment to guest comfort and spatial efficiency, translates to approximately 50 percent more living area for guests to enjoy.

The yacht's construction material, a carbon hybrid composite, plays a critical role in enhancing the vessel's spaciousness. The strength and lightweight nature of the material allowed for a reduction in structural engineering needs, as advised by the structural consultants High Modulus. As a result, the yacht benefits from increased headroom and overall floor space.

Noteworthy are the yacht's expansive windows, which are especially prominent in the guest rooms. Measuring 2.7 meters wide by one meter tall, these windows offer guests unobstructed views of their surroundings, amplifying the connection between the interior living spaces and the marine environment beyond.

The top deck of Shu U Rite is designed for versatility and outdoor enjoyment, featuring a spacious open area with a radar arch and a bimini for shade. At one end, guests can relax in the spa pool, flanked by sun loungers and a protective glass screen. A wet bar to port enhances the social atmosphere, with ample space for additional sunbeds to accommodate larger gatherings.

The yacht's innovative swim platform doubles as a tender storage and launching system. The six-meter-wide platform can be hydraulically lowered, facilitating the easy transfer of the tender, personal watercraft, or other equipment into the water. The platform has been rigorously tested to handle loads of up to three tonnes, showcasing the yacht's practical capabilities.

Shu U Rite, designed by Mauro Giamboi, combines the elegance of a monohull with the space of a catamaran, featuring expansive windows, versatile dining areas, and luxurious accommodations for up to 12 guests.

Interior Design

The main saloon, a key gathering area, is designed with a focus on social interaction, complemented by an L-shaped cream sofa and armchairs. The infusion of natural light is courtesy of large windows, which serve both aesthetic and practical purposes, enhancing the overall ambiance.

Materials within the interior reflect both quality and practicality. White leather, American oak, and Bolon woven flooring are used extensively throughout the living areas. These choices not only contribute to the visual appeal but also ensure durability and ease of maintenance.

The dining areas of Shu U Rite are versatile spaces, capable of accommodating various group sizes with ease. The use of modular wood components in the construction of dining tables allows for quick adjustments to the number of guests. On the upper deck, the saloon deck, the dining area can be seamlessly integrated with the outdoor environment thanks to a retractable portside wall of windows, while the starboard side remains fixed.

Accommodation

Shu U Rite offers a highly adaptable accommodation arrangement that suits a variety of group configurations of up to 12. The yacht is designed to host guests on the main deck, where the guest suites are strategically placed. A corridor adorned with marine photography leads to four suites – two situated on the port side and two on the starboard side. Forward of the grand spiral staircase, there are an additional two cabins.

The innovative design allows for the transformation of these spaces from six en-suite cabins into three expansive suites or any combination in between. This remarkable flexibility is achieved through the use of sliding bulkheads, which, when repositioned, can merge two cabins into a single suite. In this suite configuration, the second room's beds can be converted into sofas to fashion a private saloon, while the adjoined bathrooms offer his-and-hers amenities. For sleeping arrangements, the beds can be organized as either a double (oversized queen size) or two singles, depending on guests' requirements. The transition between layouts can be accomplished swiftly – within hours for significant changes, or mere minutes for minor adjustments.

Each suite is designed with ample windows measuring 2.7 meters in width and one meter in height, ensuring that natural light enhances the sense of space within. The décor employs a neutral color scheme, accented by materials such as white leather and American oak, to maintain an atmosphere that is both inviting and functional.

The crew accommodation, located in both hulls of the lower deck, comprises three en-suite double cabins for a team of six, including a captain, engineer, two stewardesses, a chef, and a deckhand. This area also contains operational facilities such as the galley, laundry, and engine rooms. Access for the crew is provided from the foredeck and the main deck, with the quarters meeting the MCA LY3 requirements.
