The Galeon 500 Fly is one of the most innovative boats in its class with a feature packed cockpit that makes the absolute most of the available space
Sitting at the heart of the Galeon flybridge range the 500 Fly is the Polish yard at its brave best. British designer Tony Castro has produced a striking looking flybridge cruiser that is bristling with clever ideas from the folding cockpit terraces to the swivelling aft dinette and modular fordeck seating. It's underpinned by sound boat building, however, and doesn't let the gadgets get in the way of the practical edge that an owner-run 50-footer requires. The 510 Skydeck uses the same hull and main deck with a sleek sportsbridge top deck for those who crave a more sporty look.
The main reason to buy this yacht is for its fantastic main deck. As standard it comes with L-shaped seating in the cockpit with the option to have a crew cabin but tick the beach club and rotating dinette options and the aft deck is transformed into a knockout socialising space. The fordeck is equally clever with modular seating pods that glide along runners mounted in the deck at the touch of a button to reconfigure the space as desired.
On the lower deck there is a comfortable three-cabin layout comprising a full-beam amidships master ensuite, guest bunk cabin and a particularly pleasant VIP ensuite forward. It’s well made, too, with a high quality interior fit out that feels special in all the right places and has a good variety of wood, colour and upholstery options.
There should also be a drive system to suit all tastes with three Volvo Penta shaft drive options and two IPS pod choices.
