A 130m (426.5ft) yacht concept featuring exposed jet engines has been unveiled by a London-based design studio to mark its first anniversary.
The 130m (426.5ft) Cobra concept is one of two designs revealed by Uros Pavasovic to mark the milestone. The other is the more conventional 40m (131ft) EX40.
The Cobra takes its inspiration from military aircraft and features a forward superstructure inspired by a “streamlined fighter jet canopy”. If built, the hybrid yacht would use exposed jet engines to power the generators on board.
Pavasovic admitted the concept seems far-fetched but is possible, saying: “It pushes our understanding of design parameters, and yet is, in fact, buildable. It might look like science fiction, but it's not total fantasy. The only unreal element is that those engines would be loud.”
The second concept, EX40, is a fully custom design originally slated for a client who was looking for a refined and elegant explorer that would stand the test of time.
It features accommodation for 12 guests across six cabins made up of a main deck master suite with an office and fold-down balcony and five guest cabins on the lower deck. It also features two options for the beach club, one open and open closed.
Uros Pavasovic has over 15 years experience in superyacht design and set up his design studio following stints working for Terence Disdale and Winch Designs on yachts including 99m (324.8ft) Madame Gu, 90m (295.2ft) Phoenix 2 and 85m (278.8ft) ACE.
