Amels deliver a double world first with the first Amels 188 vessel.
Delivered right on schedule at the Amels shipyard in the Netherlands, the highly anticipated Amels 188 has set its place in stone as introducing two world firsts.
Standing at 57.7m/188ft, Volpini 2 was sold in 2017 to a repeat customer for Amels who was represented by Ben Young of SYM Superyacht Management. An impressive owner's suite compete with fold down balcony, bridge deck VIP suite and an elevator are just some of the desirable highlights of Volpini 2. Her stunning sky lounge and beach club make her an ideal vessel for entertaining guests from dawn till dusk.
Aside from the completely new exterior design by Tim Heywood and interior designing by the talented Reymond Langton, the Amels 188 has the entire yachting world talking as it introduces some phenomenal technological advances.
The first of the two global yachting debuts featured with the Amels 188 is its Tier III classification. International Maritime Organization's Tier III emissions regulations state that vessels over 500 Gross Tonnage need to reduce NOX emissions in their engine exhaust gases by about 70 percent in order to comply. As the world's first new build with the Tier III regulation, Amels currently provides the edge for delivering yachts which are more eco friendly.
The second revolutionary first to propel Amels 188 into the spotlight is the new Hybrid Power. Extensively tested by the Amels team, the Hybrid Power system works by combining the energy sources from a battery bank, engine heat recovery plus a father-and-son generator configuration. This system not only improves effiency but it further reduces harmful emissions.
The AMELS Design Manager, Hans Konings, commented: "We're very proud of the technology innovations that have gone into her design, the culmination of our AMELS 188 Research and Development programme, which we started in 2014."
