The first hull of CL Yacht’s CLX96 series is entering the final stages of construction, with the 29.26m (96ft) yacht set to be launched next month.
The shipyard is promising the ‘sea activity vessel’ will be a ‘bold challenge of the status quo in its category’, with the yacht featuring what it calls a ‘workboat chic’ layout.
Created in collaboration with Jozeph Forakis, who has penned the interiors and exteriors, Albert Horsmon who is responsible for the structural engineering and with naval architecture from Earl Alfaro, the CLX96 features some uniquely styled exterior spaces.
It has a two-level, reverse-angle deckhouse that uses inverted trapezoids to maximize space and reduce heat and glare. The pilothouse amidships has large windows and a reverse-angled windscreen inspired by offshore ships, whilst forward of this space is a ‘Portuguese Terrazza’, an extension of the Portuguese bridge concept. The foredeck is home to the ‘Piazza del Sole’, a spacious area with sunpads that can be converted into a variety of furniture styles.
In terms of accommodation the CLX96 can accommodate up to eight guests across four cabins. Both the master suite and the VIP suite feature skylights. Interestingly whilst the master suite’s skylight is real the VIP suite’s skylight comes via a feed from an on-deck camera display on a screen embedded about the VIP king-size bed.
Elsewhere the new yacht has a distinctly indoor-outdoor feel with vast windows and bi-fold doors on the main deck and a skylounge with sliding glass on three sides, and there is a beach club with submerging swim platform.
The CLX96 is made with a FRP composite hull and is powered by twin Caterpillar C32 engines, giving her a top speed of 27 knots and a cruising speed of 22 knots.
“We want to return the romance of yachting to today’s owners, who are educated and demanding” said Martin Lo, CL Yachts Director. “The CLX96 SAV is the crossover yacht that meets their needs head-on: you get a good range, excellent top and cruising speeds, plenty of space and the possibility to enjoy mini expeditions to wherever your heart desires. We are excited to see hull #1 of this series completed in the coming months, to show what CL Yachts can achieve with this remarkable package.”
With her launch set for next month, it is planned she will make her first public appearance at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show in October.
