CLX99 Unveiled as the Flagship of CL Yachts’ CLX Range

Drawing inspiration from the CLX96, the all-new CLX99 aims to enhance onboard experiences.

CL Yachts has revealed the CLX99, the new flagship in the CLX range. Following the debut of the CLX96 at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in 2022, CL Yachts has once again collaborated with designer Jozeph Forakis for its latest superyacht.

At first glance, it is clear the new CLX99 draws heavily on its predecessor, but not just in styling and design DNA. The CLX99 is described as ‘more than a facelift’ and is essentially a new model for the brand. It takes the core ethos of the functional CLX96 and builds on it, providing more interior volume, external space, additional design elements, and refined features for both the European and Asian markets.

The hull of the CLX99 retains the excellent design of the CLX96, ensuring performance, stability, handling, and seaworthiness. However, the beach area has been extended, and the new yacht now reaches an overall length of 30m (100ft). There are also significant differences in terms of naval architecture, layout, and choice of materials and finishes.

The new superyacht maintains the rugged yet finessed, workboat chic of the CLX96, hinting at its cruising capabilities, while creating new areas and opportunities to enhance the general arrangement. The main deck benefits from a 2m (7ft) extension, leading to a reorganization of the interior space.

Inside, Forakis has drawn inspiration from ‘sinuous and sensual curves’ combined with elementary shapes and ideas inspired by nature and coastlines.

The lower deck has been revised and redesigned, with the standard version of CLX99 offering five generous staterooms, including a large, full-beam master suite, two VIP doubles forward, and two guest twin/double cabins, all ensuite.

CLX99 features a generous dining room forward with the galley adjacent and portside access for the crew. It also has a relaxation area with an enlarged sofa, highlighting the yacht's diverse operational roles."

The crew area, located aft between the engine room and the aft bulkhead of the master suite, has also been extended and reconfigured to accommodate up to five crew members, making CLX99 highly suitable for fully crewed charter operations. Clients can opt for a main deck master suite in place of the forward dining and observation lounge while retaining five suites on the lower deck for a total of 12 guests.

The sundeck, skylounge, and flybridge helm have all been modified to optimize proportions, carrying the CLX range into new realms of luxury. The CLX99 retains the trademark 'Terrazza Portoghese' of the CLX96, creating an expansive seating and sunning area forward of the bridge that serves as a secondary, elevated bow terrace. However, the real transformation has taken place aft of the striking, forward-raked windscreen.

The skylounge retains the up/down opening windows — port, starboard, and at the aft-bulkhead service bar, a signature feature of its smaller sibling. The aft sundeck has been reconfigured for alfresco entertaining and relaxation.

The skylounge has been extended by over three meters, with the helm separated from the guest saloon, allowing the captain to work freely without interfering with the guests."

The aft end has also received a major change, with the aft water-level beach and swim platform now boasting large drop-down bulwarks that create generous sea terraces on either side. Further storage has also been added under the external sofas, in addition to a redesign of the hull windows on the lower deck for a more continuous, flowing exterior profile. Aft generators in the engine room also make maintenance easier.
