Heesen launch silent cruising hybrid Project Electra

Dutch shipyard Heesen have launched their second hybrid-power aluminium yacht, which is now set to begin sea trials.

Scheduled for an April 2020 delivery, Project Electra promises a top speed of 16.3 knots with four cruising modes.

Featuring an FDHF hull plus a selection of diesel and diesel-electric propulsion, Heesen report that Project Electra is able to provide silent cruising with noise levels of only 45dB while cruising at 9 knots.

The four cruising modes integrated in to the systems give Electra the edge in adapting to voyage requirements, in addition to having economical benefits which offer improved fuel consumption and longer life generators.

Exteriors designed by Frank Laupman from Omega Architects encompass a variety of al fresco living areas, with highlights including a generous Sun Deck complete with sunloungers and Jacuzzi, plus an outdoor lounging and dining area aft.

Initial images of the interiors by Cristiano Gatto indicate a grand staircase centrepiece, plus bright and airy rooms with contrasting tones of white and brown. Extensive full length glazing enhances the atmosphere of space throughout, as well as providing undisturbed views for owners and their guests to enjoy.

Up to 12 guests can spend the night onboard Project Electra in a layout of six cabins. The main deck full beam master features its own private office plus exclusive bathroom facilities including separate toilet and marble shower plus a large vanity unit.

Down on the lower deck there's a full beam VIP cabin in addition to two doubles and two twin cabins, all of which have their own private ensuite facilities.
