The Galeon 450 HTC is the fourth generation of Galeon yachts designed by the Tony Castro Design Studio. With its large windows and dynamic lines, it shares some of its DNA with the 410 HTC and was developed alongside its flybridge variant - the 440 Fly. However, the 450 stands out with a sportier coupé design that's very attractive.
Step inside, and you'll find a classic layout for boats this size. The aft rest area is divided from the cockpit by sliding glass doors, designed and made in-house by Galeon. These doors are a really good feature - they bifold and split, sliding aside to create an indoor/outdoor transition between the cockpit and saloon. This clever design is helped by a two-way backrest on the saloon bench closest to the cockpit - and it also pivots round to be flush with the other seating. It's a lovely bit of functionality that melds these two spaces together better than anything else in this sector.

The use of materials inside is equally impressive. The silver oak finish is bright and modern, and there's an interesting use of carpeted uprights that adds a touch of contemporary flair. Galeon also offers different interior finishes if that's not your style.
In the lower deck, versatility is the name of the game. The Galeon 450 HTC has two layout options: you can opt for a three-cabin configuration with bunks replacing the day head, or a split amidships cabin featuring a small double and a twin.

Going in to the saloon, bifold doors slide right across, creating a nice continuity between the saloon and cockpit. This connection is really helped by the two-way backrest, allowing two people to sit and be part of the cockpit party. What's more, this backrest can pivot and join the bench in the saloon, creating an unbroken seating space all around the area.
The saloon absolutely benefits from the boat's enormous glass sunroof as there's lots of natural light. Storage is in every nook, cranny, and cubby, even high up, which may be a bit of a stretch if you're less than 6ft tall. Although perfect for hiding sweets and iPads from the kids.
The dinette area is a cosy space with a little sofa opposite. The table folds up, making it a bit bigger if you fancy dining inside. However, the larger table outside is probably the best spot.

The galley isn't in the aft but next to the helm station, which works brilliantly. This layout makes it easy to grab a drink or make some food, even on a longer passage. The quality of finish is high, with integrated induction hobs and a smart sink cover that doubles up as a splash back. There's also a little combi oven and an undercounter fridge - compact but practical for the boat's size.

Guest Accommodation
The forward VIP cabin has plenty of headroom and lots of floor space at the end of the bed, nice and easy to move around and get changed. The bed itself can be changed from a large double into two singles with a bit of floor space in between. Storage is well thought out, with nine lockers and a wardrobe slotting in neatly. There's even a smart little bureau, perfect for getting ready before a night out.
The detailing in the VIP is lovely, with lighting behind the bed head, reading lights, and repeaters for both lighting and air conditioning controls all within arm's reach when lying in bed. Triple glazing overhead, complete with an opening hatch giving a burst of natural ventilation. The ensuite head, though shared as a day head, is convenient even if it isn't entirely private.
![Galeon-450-HTC-twin-cabin](https://image.yachtbuyer.com/w466/h294/qh/ca/ow-1,d-1/k7fd9b2fa/cms/photo/2729542.jpg)

In the two-cabin configuration, the amidships cabin is a full-beam cabin and could be called the owner's cabin. The ensuite bathroom here has a clever sliding door to maximise space and it's totally private. However, there's a bit of a compromise with the headroom, which is restricted. I did find there's a spot by the steps where you can stand fully upright, but it becomes quite low over the bed.
This setup would probably be better for kids who can crawl into bed and chill out, making this a bit of a playroom/cabin. Meanwhile, adults can enjoy full standing head height in the forward cabin.

As this isn't a flybridge, the interior helm is your sole driving position on the Galeon 450 HTC. So, it has to be spot on - and it is. The layout is clean and stylish with twin MFDs, which I reckon is what everyone will opt for. Also, you'll find hard switches, not everything is integrated into the screens. These backlit switches are smartly arranged and easy to interact with, keeping all the essential controls close.
The helm's sliding bench is designed for two, so the skipper can enjoy some company while cruising. Engine options are plenty on this model, with the boat we saw featuring twin-shaft drive Volvo Penta 480hp engines. It achieves a top speed of about 28 knots. While it's not a performance beast pushing past 30 knots, it's designed for relaxed cruising between 22-25 knots.

For tricky slow-speed manoeuvres, the Galeon 450 HTC is equipped with optional bow and stern thrusters. What really makes a difference is the side door at the helm, providing access to the side decks. If you're a party of two or solo, you can easily manage lines and hang fenders. Plus, there's space to stand, and with the sunroof open, the headroom is even better. This standing position is handy for slow-speed manoeuvres, giving you clear sightlines aft.
With built-in steps, the hydraulic bathing platform is easy to climb in and out of, helping the safe transition from deck to sea. The curvy teak-lined transom area is not just for show as underneath, you’ll find a pair of very useful lockers. These deep storage spaces are ideal for stowing boat hooks, fenders, lines, and watersports gear - keeping the essentials right where you need them.
A real standout is the expansive wet bar at the transom. It's much bigger than it would be if it was squeezed into the cockpit itself, and it’s well kitted out with a grill, sink, and chopping board area - and while you are grilling, you are still connected with guests in the cockpit, as you stand facing that area.
One of Galeon’s hallmark features are the fold-down balconies. These are seriously cool and they’ve updated them on this model. They significantly extend your usable space, but the glass insets mean you can enjoy fabulous views whether the balconies are up or down.
The cockpit also features a smart two-way backrest, offering the flexibility to lounge and enjoy the view over the water or flip it back for dining mode. The fibreglass table is practical and easy to maintain, making it a better bet for sunny areas where teak might suffer. The overhead shade can be pulled back or extended as needed, keeping the cockpit a well-protected space.

Moving forward along the side decks on both sides, a thoughtful feature here is that the diesel fillers are neatly tucked away under little flaps with a protective lip. This lip makes sure any spillage is contained, and none of the fuel will fall and stain the teak decking.
Forward, there's a very large side door. This is a great feature, giving ventilation and providing easy access to the helm without having to head aft. It’s a really useful piece of design that adds to the boat’s overall appeal.
A couple of sizeable steps lead up to the forward part of the side decks. Once you’re up there, there’s plenty of space for your feet, but the railings are a bit low for someone 6ft tall - still, they are sturdy and offer a secure grip even if you have to stoop.
Now, this isn’t the flybridge version - for that, you’d opt for the 440 Fly. This is the coupé model, which means you get the benefit of a vast, really glorious sunroof. This coupé design really elevates the importance of the foredeck, so Galeon has made it into another fantastic outdoor living space. The sunbathing area isn’t just flat sunpads; they’ve incorporated rise-up backrests, so you can sit more comfortably. Up front, there’s a nice little bench - good for taking in the scenery at displacement speed as you return to berth in the evening.
![Galeon-450-HTC-side-view-balconies-down](https://image.yachtbuyer.com/w1440/h755/qh/ca/k3f6f7e05/cms/photo/2729551.jpg)
While the headroom down in the engine space is a bit cramped, the layout makes up for it. The space around the engines is nicely arranged, allowing for easy inspection and maintenance. You can get to the filters, strainers, and dipsticks without any hassle. The shaft seals are also well within sight.
Another nifty feature is the flooring; it lifts up at the aft, giving you access to the bottom of the engine room and the bilges, should you need to clamber down there. Everything is neatly arranged and the auto reel for the shore power cable is conveniently positioned. The generator is tidily housed in the far corner, keeping it well-protected and out of the way. So not a huge amount of space, but very well laid out.

Our Verdict
The Galeon 450 HTC's Tony Castro Design Studio collaboration shines on this fourth edition boat, and they've spent some time refining the design - especially in the cockpit where the saloon, hydraulic bathing platform and transom wet bar all become a part of it. The bifold sliding doors blend the cockpit and saloon into one big space. The interior offers an airy and stylish feel due to the large sunroof, with lots of storage built in throughout. The Galeon 450 HTC is a versatile, intelligently designed yacht that offers superb functionality and style, making it a standout in its class.

Rivals to Consider
The Galeon 450 HTC holds its own when compared to the Prestige 460S, which offers a similarly enticing experience with its three-cabin layout. Both can accommodate up to six guests, but the Prestige 460S has a bright saloon thanks to its big windows. It also features a large flybridge, which offers a superb vantage point and additional social space. However, the Galeon 450 HTC’s full-beam master cabin, complete with hull-side windows and a dressing table, proves a real treat for those who appreciate a touch of luxury in their personal space.
Moving on to the Bavaria Yachts 420 Coupé, it stands out with its great performance, reaching a top speed of 35 knots. This is perfect for those who like a bit of a thrill on the water. The Bavaria 420 Coupé also includes a clever storage system in the cockpit, providing plenty of space for water toys and gear. However, the Galeon 450 HTC offers a more balanced slow-speed driving experience, ideal for leisurely cruises.
Then there's the Fairline Targa 45 GT, which impresses with its extensive range of 1,196 nautical miles. Its design integrates a retractable hardtop roof, giving owners the flexibility to enjoy open-air cruising or a more sheltered experience. This yacht is ideal for those who enjoy long voyages without frequent refuelling stops. The Galeon 450 HTC might not boast such a range, but its clever design and versatile features make it an appealing choice for more localised adventures. For those not planning to venture too far from home, the Galeon proves to be quite versatile.
If you're looking at the Cranchi M 44 HT, you’ll find it caters to slightly smaller groups with its two-cabin layout. It’s perfect for short trips and overnight getaways, offering a comfortable experience for five guests. The Cranchi also features a sunroof in the main saloon, allowing natural ventilation and light to flood the interior. The Galeon, meanwhile, offers that extra cabin, which can be a game-changer for families or those who frequently entertain onboard. In terms of guest accommodation, the Galeon’s offering is hard to match.
As for the Sealine S430, its shallow draft is a highlight, allowing it to navigate waters that might be off-limits to deeper vessels. Additionally, it has a unique 'convertible' cockpit, which can transform from a dining area to a sunbathing space in moments, adding to its appeal for sun-seekers. While the Galeon 450 HTC doesn’t quite match this nimbleness, it compensates with its robust build and elegant design. If shallow waters aren’t a concern for you, the Galeon’s sophisticated style and practical layout might just win you over.
